Does anyone have any suggestions of how long to make bungee's for a KF 2
the cord I purchased from Spruce is 3/8" the old worn out cord on my plane
was only wrapped 4 times and was worn out {stretched}. also any suggestions
as to how large to make the safety cable loop as to not let the bungee's
bottom out against it, if this makes sense. Thanks Mark

Sound like you have it about right, but be prepared to change it as the
weather changes. Just remember that with higher static rpm your takeoff
will be awesome, but your cruise speed and fuel consumption will suffer.
It's all a trade off.

I have a 582 with a GSC prop My static is 6250 and I don't exceed 6400 on climb
out. I figure the rpm will increase with warmer weather.

I think I have the best combination of engine/prop/airplane possible
with a Kitfox 5. It is a 5 Safari with a Continental IO-240 swinging a
70"/46 pitch Performance prop. Cruises at 125 mph, climbs like an

They were 3/8 inch diameter and 59.5 inch total length to the outside of the
loops with the aluminum lugs installed already. The inner diameter of the

Hello List,
I have the 3-Blade GSC Wood Prop coupled to a C-Box (3.47:1) and 582. GSC
states that static RPM should be about 6200...the previous owner had static
RPM way up at about 6500. I'm awfully tired of fine-tuning this thing -
whats the best static RPM in your opinions? BTW, right now I'm lucky to push
6200 in climb-out.
Thanks!

Subject: | FAA needs our comments re: LSA rule change by 1/24! |
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Paul Seehafer" <av8rps@tznet.com>
Hey Gang, the FAA is asking us to submit comments on adding amphibians to
the Light Sport Aircraft Rule. This has been a long time coming, and we
desperately need support.
I realize not everyone cares about flying an amphibious Light Sport
Aircraft. But there are many that do. And many of these people are highly
experienced amphibian pilots that are getting older and their medicals are
costing them a small fortune to maintain. Plus, there are lots of others
that just want to be able to have the option should they decide to ever use
it.
Did you know you can fly an ultralight that is amphibious with zero
training? But a 10,000 hour certified pilot that has been flying amphibs
his whole life can't operate a LSA as an amphib if he opts to fly LSA's
without a medical. Something wrong with that picture. But now's our
opportunity to try and make things right with the FAA. But they need to
hear from us by 1/24!
Please read below for the details on how to submit your comment to the
proposed FAA rule change. And thanks in advance for your support!
Paul Seehafer
(from the internet talk show, ULTRAFLIGHT RADIO;)
Dan Defelici, Sport Aircraft Works
Dan Defelici joins us to talk about a Notice for Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM)
that will permit the Czech Aircraft Works to be issued a special
airworthiness certificate in the light-sport category for the Mermaid
aircraft. This is significant because the Mermaid aircraft is an amphibious
aircraft equipped with landing gear that can be retracted and extended while
in flight. This has been a problem with the Light Sport Aircraft rules
because of the language pertaining to amphibs. This NPRM has a very short
fuse since the comment period ends on January 24, 2006. This is a chance for
the sport aviation community to come together to help change the rules for
the better. Sport Aircraft Works
(And from the Czech Aircraft Works Website)
The FAA has told us they are writing a new NPRM to fix some
ambiguities and errors in the LSA rule. They plan to correct their error
with the amphibious gear issue by allowing retractable gear in amphibs as
they originally intended. This is excellent news but could take months. Chip
Erwin, the director of Czech Aircraft Works, has written a petition to the
FAA to allow LSA certification of the Mermaid now. The FAA has accepted and
puiblished this petition. They are now asking for comments.
This is your chance to be heard where it can really count. The comment
period ENDS 24 JANUARY 2006. So please send you comments in ASAP. The FAA
will make their decision shortly after the comment period ends.
The FAA likes to hear things like why this is in the public interest,
why it is important to the industry, and in the interest of safety.
Statements made with substants count the most. (Keep them short or summarize
your opinion in first few lines.)
To read the petition and to submit your comments go to
http://dms.dot.gov/submit/dspSubmission.cfm follow the instructions for
submitting comments on the electronic docket site. Or fax to 1-202-493-2251.
Refer to Docket No: FAA-2005-23030
Operating administration: FAA
Docket existence: Does Exist
Document title: Czech Aircraft Works - Exemption/Rulemaking
Thank you for your support.

Deke, the aircraft was built by a former list member. N94VC was a short
wing speedster Model IV with a 912 80 HP. Vic Syracuse built the
airplane. It was a common site around metro Atlanta until March 2005 when
it was sold. It also was at Osh and SNF often. It has flown many Young
Eagles. Vic did mild aerbatics (loops and rolls in it). But I believe
always solo.I visited Vic several times to look over the plane when I was
installing my engine. I was a beautiful example of a Kitfox and a shame
it crashed-but even bigger shame that two young men lost their lives. Vic
went on to build a RV6 and now is flying one of the first customer built
