Cool! Now, hang on, Randy; what kind of Norwegian is it? We have Bokmaal, closest
to Danish and the language spoken in Oslo and the south-east, then: Nynorsk,
a slightly different dialect spoken in the mountains ... am I loosing you? Eh!
stay awake, guys! ... Zzzzzzz (boring!) ... :-)

Hi Marcos,
Try www.kodiakbs.com . click on TECH INFO and you ar there.
The Rotax Owners Assn web site has been acting up the last couple of days.
I just checked and the Kodiak web site seems to be the only way in right
now.

Do any list members have any favorite aviation related Museums etc. I

AZ. If you have input please respond off list.

Well that explains it. I can imagine a backfire into
a fuel ladened intercooler could be messy.
Now how do I convert to injected, which I prefer, and
a 2 plug head? $$$$$$

Well Andrew, that makes it bad timing on my part times
2. I live in Rockledge about 45 minutes North of
Vero, E. of 95. But I just flew up to KY to turn in
my taxes and drive my van down to Fl with my last
moving load. Won't be around when you are there. :-(
Second I'll miss the big Titusville airshow going on
next weekend, 11th and 12th I believe. They have a
air museum there too. I found out about it too late,
but you could make up the difference if you make it.
;-) Supposed to be a great one - best for eastern FL.

I just signed up since I'm planning to buy a kitfox here in Alaska. I've never
flown before and would like to learn how in my own little plane to save $ and
be well aquanted with what I'll be using. My plan is to have the plane on floats
in summer and skiis during the winter. The kitfoxIV I'm looking at has a
912UL in it. Is this practical and is it hard to find an instructor that will
train on an experimental tail dragger? Also, what is a good pricerange for
a kitfox... what should I look out for? Do you know of other kitfox owners in
Alaska? Thanks, Layne Cropper
Try Juno Platinum for Free! Then, only $9.95/month!

Two plug heads are available here in NZ - or were. My engine was originally
EFI so I'm using the original injectors but have a Link Electrics ECU. I
have dual primary ignition into a MSD switcher to single secondary. J.

I did a similar thing. I started out my training in a 172 and transitioned to a
Kitfox after the solo. Starting out in a 172 actually slowed me down because
I then had to unlearn a bit in order transition to a light tail dragger. Landing
a Kitfox is a very different experience. After my second lesson in my Kitfox,
I was still struggling just to keep her on the centerline. I felt compelled
at one point to tell my instructor that I wasn't lying about having flown an
airplane before. His response was "Yep. Ye aint gotcher taining wheels no more".
As for finding an instructor.. I had a heck of a time myself. Im very lucky that
the one guy I did find ended up being an excellent instructor. It took me three
tries to find a decent instructor when I was training in a 172.
Just one thing: Can you start off on wheels? Seems like a lot to learn at once
to start up on floats or skiis.

I did most of my training in 150/152s, with a little in 172s, but I have
never flown a taildragger.
Last month I got my float rating in a Cub Crafters Top Cub down here in
Seattle.
The training wasn't that hard of a transition, and in fact my instructor
even suggested that going from a trike to floats to a dragger was easier for
most people than going from a trike to a dragger.

I searched long and hard in various venus (including the AOPA and EAA web sites).
In the end the only thing that worked was visiting the local airports and talking
to the locals.

Subject: | 912 Spider Tank position |
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Colin Durey" <colin@ptclhk.com>
Hi Guys!
I've finally mounted the engine on my KF4 and am starting to fit bits to
it. Looking at the manual ('94 vintage), the pictures are both sparse and
fuzzy, so it makes it a bit hard to follow in places.
I am currently working on re-mounting the spider tank. The instructions
say to mount it as far to the right as possible, and an obvious caveat to
this is the likely conflict with the carb-heat box which needs to be in
the same general vicinity.
Does anyone have nice clear pictures of their installed / being installed
spider tank on a 912 that I can use for reference? Actually, pictures of
the whole engine install, or parts thereof, will be very usefull.
(Don't forget that the pictures will need to be upside down for me to be
able to read them properly, 'cause Sydney is in the southern hemisphere
:-))

Colin,
FWIW, most 912 applications in Kitfoxes eliminate the Carb Heat Box. It was
found to be unnecessary and the reduction of induction air resistance is a
plus - more RPMs.. I understand that some regulating agencies insist that
it be there.
I'll check my picts later this evening.

Subject: | LANDING GEAR QUESTION |
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Barbara & Keith Schneider" <bkls1@earthlink.net>
Hello list
I recently picked up a damaged Mod 4, which I am in the process of
repairing. It suffered a hard landing which wiped out the bungee gear and
gear fittings. My plan is to replace the gear with the Grove aluminum gear,
and mount it in a similar manner as the gear on the Mod 6&7, forgoing the
special brackets that mount to the stock gear and float attach points. What
I am looking for is a measurement from the front face of the Grove gear leg
to the aft ear of the forward float attach fitting. This will eliminate any
guess work on my part as to properly locating the new gear. Hopefully one of
you with a Mod 4 with Grove gear can get this measurement from your plane.
Also if anyone has any experience with attaching the gear in the manner I
described I would love to hear how this went, whether good or bad.
On another note since I purchased this repairable Mod 4 , I am considering
parting with my other two projects, a bent Mod 3 and a uncompleted Mod
4-1200 kit. Should there be any interest in either of these, feel free to
contact me for details.
Thanks,
Keith Schneider, Waynesville , Ohio

6000 hrs sounds like 60 years worth of flying. What model is your kitfox and does
it matter for landing characteristics? That worries me cause it ruins my
cheap way to get my pilots license. There is a kitfoxIV 912 UL with 100hrs total
time for sale here for $32,000. Does this sound like a fare deal.

Just got some paperwork in the mail regarding the SS bankruptcy.
It is regarding the abandonment of items owed by SS to an unsecured creditor.
He ordered a kit on July 05 and got screwed out of everything.
Though I kinda deal with laws as a cop on the criminal law side, I don't know much
about civil law.
Anyone venture a guess at why one would abandon their rights to SS's "estate"?
I assume it is a legal move in preparation for taking some action outside of the
bankruptcy realm.
I'm just glad I got most of my stuff before the filing (engine not included in
the 'most'!!!) and that the McBean's have been so helpful to help us get the stuff
we need.
Regards,
Wade
