While VP of EAA in DC area we brought in a mfr of a Palm type system
that used the solid state gyro chip used inexpensively in the automotive
industry to Onstar help in the event of a rollover. I have not seen any
other uses of this but am very interested in finding an inexpensive
attitude gyro to replace my falcon guage unit that the mfr wont' warranty.
If anyone has run across anything to use for basic VFR that would be great.

Up, up, and away....
I'd like to say that I flew my baby today, but that day will soon come.
What I can say is that my baby took her first flight today, and it was
a thing of beauty to behold. A couple hundred feet takeoff roll and it
was rising at a steeper angle than I would have thought possible. That
Jabiru power sounded awfully good after all these 19 months of steady
work. The test pilot suggested dropping the hort. stab. to the lower
hole, and lowering the idle speed as it floated a bit on landing. He
reported stall speeds of 45...clean, 40...10 flaps, and 35 for full
20 flaps...all in mph increments. So the first flight is in the books,
all 1.5 hours of it, and I couldn't be happier...well, only if I could
have taken the flight myself, that is. But in a few weeks, months,
whatever, I'll be doing just that. But for now I can add to the list of
people who say that these are one sweet flying machine.
He reported it stalled straight ahead and flew hands off despite slight
winds aloft. This guy is an airline pilot who has flown "nearly
everything" and this was his first flight in a Kitfox...something he
had always wanted to do, and that mission was accomplished today.
Another great day for flight.

I remember from my business law classes that the allocation of goods
is of special meaning. Even to the point of bearing the risk of loss
as from a fire. If it applies here, which it well might, the
allocated parts are his.

Another great day for flight.

very light, takes little power and should be fairly
competive price wize. Anyone out there got a handle

When N96KL flew for the first time, I borrowed a hangar at Lincoln, CA for
a couple of days. The owner was building a Series 5 and was currently a U-2
pilot at Beal AFB. When those high tech tail draggers land, they always
were followed on short final with a fast car that counted down the final few
feet of altitude on landing.
Well this guy and I were standing there watching the airplane getting ready
for take off when he suddenly said, "Hey, I ve driven the chase car lots of
times get in!" We then chased the airplane down the runway on take off with
him driving and me standing out of the sun roof with the video camera
rolling. We did the same on the landing. It was a kick.

Hi Guys, I thought it might be a good idea to replace the lift strut
ends (not sure what you call them but they screw in at the wing end of
the lift strut and attach on the under surface). One broke on impact but
the other 3 appear to be OK but as they were placed under high loadings
it would be wise to replace them all. Can someone tell me what their
called and who I order them through please. Thanks in advance.
Regards
Graeme

Make sure that the MI fly-in is at least a month or so away, so I can
attend....or have it within my "golden circle" : ) Actually, I'd
rather it was up there where you are Marco, so I can duck those
military jets, too.

Sorry guys for rabbiting on but still on a high due to how nice my wee bird
flies.. Just back from doing my first stall tests so looking for some feed
back from you series 5 drivers. Power off no flap and it just mushes and
begins to descend, no wing drop, same with 1 notch of flap and wee bit of
power. With just myself in the seat the CoG is right on the f/ward limit so
I guess this is normal. I have gap seals on the elevator. John A.
