The owner was building a Series 5 and was currently a U-2 pilot at Beal AFB. When those high tech tail draggers land, they always were followed on short final with a fast car that counted down the final few feet of altitude on landing. Well this guy and I were standing there watching the airplane getting ready for take off when he suddenly said, "Hey, I ve driven the chase car lots of times get in!" We then chased the airplane down the runway on take off with him driving and me standing out of the sun roof with the video camera rolling. We did the same on the landing. It was a kick.
