    Subject: Turtle Deck
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Noel Loveys" <noelloveys@yahoo.ca> My turtle deck is a one piece with a single large piece of Lexan installed. I think the original builder fabricated it himself to try to cut down on winter drafts. I much prefer to use it to the folding deck which I also have. The one piece is quite a bit easier to install as the centre isn't flopping around like a drunken sailor while I'm trying to get the camlocs turned. There is something wring with the parts. If this is what you are after, you only have to worry if you had service since April14, 2005 on the fuel pump assembly. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Dave" <dave@cfisher.com> Hi Lowell, I just got back from a 7.5 hour X country - 2 grass strips, 2 paved runways and about a dozen different lakes and rivers since yesterday AM .Never over 3500 agl and flew 300 agl to 1500 agl for most of it . Had to cross about 40 miles of open water but stayed within few miles of shore. Just because you are on floats does not mean it going be fun in 6 foot waves. Regs do read 500 above highest obstacle and 1000 or 2000 feet vertically from them. Dave ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Friday, July 07, 2006 10:28 AM --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Lowell Fitt" <lcfitt@sbcglobal.net> Dave, What do you consider legally at 500 ft. The way I read the regs is that one must be at least 500 ft from a structure, vehicle or person. I interpret this to mean that you must be at least 500 ft over or lateral to the tower etc., but over the western desert, just don't touch the ground unless it is a planned touch. Hi ! Bradley, I have a MKIV/582 and think it is great. The Rotax 582 does a great job but yes it is way overpriced and I am ever plagued by the roughness below about 3,000 RPM. I saw one of these 3 cylinder Geo's perform and was really impressed. Unfortunately it wasn't in a Kitfox but it really ran extremely smooth and quiet. It started instantly without fuss and performed well. What we really need is is a lot of these motors in Kitfox's so we have a good information base then I'm sure the idea could take-off and we would all benifit. When my time comes and it's time to do something about the 582 I certainly would look at the Geo if mounts and information was available. Anyway I wish you luck and hope it all woks out well as I'm sure it will. Rex Shaw.

Just how far do you expect to go on the tires and at what speed? I say for tundra type tyres lower the air pressure until they get too draggy on the ground. The rougher the ground the lower the pressure. BTW this is purely conjecture on my behalf... I haven't flown my KF3-A on wheels/skis yet just some low speed taxiing..... Floats are my game. I haven't flown in the winter yet. As for drunken sailors... I look out my double patio doors and see the cruel sea..... (North Atlantic) That's the cheapest high I can imagine!! and I wouldn't' be any place else!!
