Quite right, Nelson. And if you look at the 7th photo on this series:

You'll see that the holes in the Jabiru air duct make it even more look

      Guy,
If the washer is original it should have a short razor cut slice in the
center. It's difficult to see without bending the washer around a bit. If
it doesn't have one, cut one.

A few months ago someone was asking about a Model 4 builders manual. I
recently purchased a trailer for a Model 4 tube gear and have since
modified it for my 5 Grove gear airplane. The fellow I got the trailer
from, his Dad built the airplane (which was later destroyed in an engine
out accident). He gave me all the construction manuals along with a
baggage floor and cover to the baggage compartment. I have no use for
these items and will give them to anybody who wants them for the cost of
freight. I'm driving to Oshkosh and could bring them to deliver to
anyone there that has a way to get them home. Let me know.

If Travis doesn't need the baggage cover I have been trying to find one

Anybody interested in a really reasonable project I have a friend who
purchased a nice Model 4 with Moesler VW engine. He didn't like the
performance so he decided to change the powerplant to a 582. He purchased
new cowlings but it still needs the engine an engine mount.

I have flown in the plane and it is really well built and flies great.

A new wife and Baby have changed his priorities and he is looking for only
      CD$10,500 for the lot.

Ive attached a couple of photos for anybody interested

I had an in flight failure last week of N205AK's Suberu ea81. She was
landed with no problems and everyone is ok. The push rod on the # 4
cylinder ( Front right)snaped. Attached is a picture of the part . it
made a clean break almost dead center on the rod completely in to. With
only 20 hrs on the engine and only 5 in flight this should not have
happened. Has anyone else seen this before and why did it happen? P.S.

I have a similar story. I have been to Oshkosh every year for the last 5
years. I always sleep the night before in a town about one hour flying time
from Oshkosh, and then time my morning arrival to coincide exactly with the
opening of the airport. Very relaxed and stress free arrival. There is
nothing that will bring tears to your eyes like landing in Oshkosh the first
time in an aircraft you built yourself. A very proud and emotional moment.

I learned something about OSH a few years ago.I really didn't want to fly
into that beehive,so I chose to fly into Fond Du Lac. I left Mi. just before
daylight and was calling in at Fond Du Lac about 45 min later, just before
the tower opened. I tried there and OSH and there was no sound on the
radio,no tower,no traffic. I was getting concerned about my radio when I was
answered by the tower"cleared to land"for # ??runway. Nothing wrong w/ the
radio. No one was up yet. I fortunately made a last call before diverting at
precisely the tower opening time. We were the only plane in the sky and the
first ones on the ground at Fond Du Lac. Piece of cake. It was no busier at
      OSH.

So, if you don't mind getting up in the AM,it is a pretty easy flight,or
was that time. And that was opening day. Larry Huntley

You're absolutely right! It's there, but it doesn't pass even a molecule. I
cut it open into an X and it passes pressure nicely, but should keep out

Thinking more about it and looking at the photos of the broken rod. Mine
look a lot different from that in the photo, much thicker diameter. I
recall Lance asking me to send him photos of my pushrods at one time, and
him telling me I had the "new" version of NSI pushrod. The older version,
probably the one Mike Harter had break on him, was the same diameter as mine
but had a different machined transition at the end where it swages onto to
factory end piece. There used to be photos on some website showing the
      difference.

landed with no problems and everyone is ok.

      Hello Fellow Kitfox Builders/Drivers:

It has been suggested by some that we get together at Acey Ducey some
evening during Airventure 2006. However nobody seems to know where
      Acey-Ducey is located.
Oshkosh information has no idea. There is no telephone number listed for
them. I have used every search engine I could think of without success.
Today I called EAA and the lady in membership services said that Acey-Ducey
is located on Oregon Street and 14th Street.
Can anybody confirm that location? If not, may I suggest that we meet on
Tuesday 25 July at 19:30 local time at Kelly's. Kelly's is located at the
University at the corner of Wisconsin & High Street.

      You have the spelling wrong.
      It's the Acee-Deucee Lounge
      1329 Oregon St.
      920-235-6050
It is a cool place, and everyone that attends Oshkosh
should go there at least once.

| Subject: | Interesting Weekend (somewhat Kitfox related) |

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Lowell Fitt" <lcfitt@sbcglobal.net>

This weekend was interesting to say the least considering on Friday
afternoon I had no real plans, except one. One of our own went down a week
or two ago as he was participating in a Defense Department test off the East
Coast. See: http://www.bd5.com/ for brief details. Friends here in Cameron
Park hosted a memorial get-together Saturday, to honor his memory with the
      usual exciting fly-bys.

Along with this, there was a production crew form CNBC that had caught a
recent feature article in the San Francisco Chronicle about a local man,
living around the corner from me, that commutes daily from his home here to
the Bay Area in his Bonanza - about 70 miles (two to three hours by auto
depending on traffic. A producer from the cable network thought she could
do a "fun" piece on airpark living, his commute and what he might see on
      his way to work.

Early Saturday they filmed a mock commute; taping from the cockpit of his
Bonanza. Later in the day they taped some footage of some of the locals
cruising the steet / taxyways and asked I would wash my airplane for some
additional video. The producer saw the video camera mounted on my Model IV
and asked if I had any footage of the ride from here to the Bay Area
particularly the bridges that feed the San Francisco Peninsula - the San
Francisco Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate bridge. I told her that I did, but
would have to find it in the collection of tapes I have accumulated.

I looked all afternoon and couldn't find the tape. I found lots of Idaho,
the 2004 trip to Oshkosh, the Desert Fox Squadron trips, but no Bay Area. I
did give her a tape I shot locally last winter over the American River near
Coloma where the first gold was found that triggered the Californian Gold
Rush. It was one of those cold clear days with great visibility and a low
fog over the foothill river valleys with pine trees stretching into the
clear above the fog. Then some shots of Folsom Lake with the Cameron Park
      take off and landing.

I thought that was the end of it. I got a call early Sunday morning from
the producer and she said she loved my tape and that my footage was better
than that taken from the Bonanza and in short coaxed me into flying to the
Bay Area this morning for another try at it.

Not being too swift on the ATC stuff - Cameron Park and my usual haunts and
those of our flying group are usually far off the beaten path and far from
the major population centers, especially SFOs Class B airspace - I asked my
Lancair builder friend to come along and man the radios. The day went
absolutely great. Hot in Cameron Park - 106 - meant our wether was
dominated by a high pressure that rendered the usual summer coastal fog a
non issue. We flew down the Sacramento River to the Bay at 2000 ft., up the
Eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, past Berkeley on our left, we dropped
down to 1400 ft to tuck under the approach of Oakland International Airport
along the Bay Bridge, past Down Town and Fisherman's Warf, up the Northern
edge of San Francisco, made two passes along the Golden Gate Bridge - North
on the inland side and South on the ocean side, past the The Palace of the
Legion of Honor, the Presidio, Cliff House, Golden Gate Park, Sunset Beach,
Harding park, the Zoo, down to and over Half Moon Bay where Clint Bazzill
keeps his Model IV, then on to Palo Alto airport where I relinquised the
      video tape to the producer.

The weather was absolutely perfect giving us spectacular visibility and with
air as still as glass - not a bump until we crossed the coast range from the
ocean side to the bay side, then glass again. I forgot to bring another
tape for the return trip, but no problem as we decided to make the return
trip home as high as we needed to to enjoy a little cool air. Can't see
much at 6500 ft. where we had to go before the outside temps dropped below
      80. All too soon it was right back down to hot.

I am promised the return of the tape and if it is looks half as good as it
did on the monitor, I will put it onto a DVD and make available to those
      interested.

With that in mind, I was aware that there is a no photography clause in my
insurance and this morning while talking to a Falcon insurance agent for
another reason, I asked about the clause. For those interested.
Photography is not prohibited, even my video taping with my permanently
mounted camera is not prohibited. Giving the video away is not prohibited,
but he said that selling a photograph or a video or segments of a video shot
from an "experimenal" aircraft as a commercial venture is prohibited. This
even if the photo is shot for personal use and much later someone wants to
purchase the rights to the photo, "spec photos". I asked if I could remove
that clause from the insurance with an additional premium, he said. "No". I
had read the FARs last night and the specific commercial prohibitions are
related to "carrying persons or property for compensation or hire". I guess
the insurance companies are intrepreting this part quite broadly.

I mention this for information purposes and for the reason that for those
interested in a disk, I would appreciate a "donation" proportionate to the
actual costs of the disks and postage.

      Lowell

an aircraft parts dealer or other that has the 30a for a main fuse holder...

would have to find it in the collection of tapes I have accumulated.

That's wierd, Mapquest says it is at 667 W 8th Ave. I have tried the
telephone number, this same one is on the Mapquest listing, and the line is
always busy. I will try to find out for sure and let everyone know.

How are other Rotax 912 owners complying with SI-04-1997? This is the
Service Instruction that discusses venting of the lubrication system.
As I understand it you need to plug the oil return line and apply 10 psi
to the vent line and rotate the engine. What are you using for a plug?
How are you connecting a source of regulated 10 psi air to the vent
      line?

I've been reading the series of articles on the Sport Pilot page on the
"Ideal Rotax 912 Installation". In Part 4 there is a small note on a
graphic saying that when the engine is off, the connection between
terminal C on the rectifier and the battery should be broken to avoid
discharging the battery. I don't see a provision on the Skystar wiring
diagram for this. Have any other 912 owners accounted for this? The
obvious thing seems to be wiring it through the master switch.

      Thanks

I have a detailed instruction for this procedure. As I recall it appeared in a
      magazine.

Can send you a copy if you like.

I use a piece of oil line about 4" long plugged on one end with a wooden dowel,
then apply 10 psi of regulated air to the oil tank inlet with an attachment
on my compressor used to blow up ballons and air mattresses.

        Hope this helps.

Are you looking for a single fuse holder, or a distribution block?

Either way, try www.littelfuse.com, go to Product Type Search, go to bottom
at Automotive Aftermarket Products, and then fuse blocks, and Maxi-fuse. Pep
Boys carried these when I was looking.

      Try this:
      http://www.littelfuse.com/cgi-bin/r.cgi/en/prod_type_series.html?TechnologyI
      D=2&Family=650&LFSESSION=ExazE8rjD3, select MAB1.

I've used these, and they're great. If not what you want, search the site,
      there's tons of options.

Does anyone know where I can buy a "bussmann" fuse holder as above..
Aircraft Spruce, Wicks, Leading Edge, ect ect... all have 10a or 15a , but I
have not found an aircraft parts dealer or other that has the 30a for a main

This is an announcement of interest to the Kitfox community that
www.HomebuiltHELP.com has just released a new DVD video presentation
entitled: " Building a Glass Panel for your Homebuilt Aircraft ".

It is a unique presentation in that it allows first time panel builders
see what is involved with designing and fabricating a modern electronic
display panel for their homebuilt by watching someone do it from start
      to finish.

I will leave it at that and those that are interested in this topic can
visit the webpage outline at http://homebuilthelp.com/Glass_Panel.htm

      Thanks!
