MessageGenerally so, but not exactly. 6061-T6 actually has a slight increase in tensile properties up to 440 degrees for up to 30 min. I looked into this when I was considering powder coating an aluminum frame, but never did do it. Not and use it again. The wing was factory built. There is no actual damage, but a slow bow from one end to the other. What's the possibility of removing that spar with heat? Regards, Ed ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Liebmann To: kitfox-list@matronics.com Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2006 7:08 PM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: wing spars Hi Ed, As I read your note, as you look down the spar with the web vertical, the bend goes either to the right or left depending.....is this correct? Is the wing completely built? Send digital pics to the list if ya can.... Ron N55KF I am the second owner of a 6 in which the previous owner did very little constructionwise, and am at the point of attaching the wings. One of wings fore spars has a bend on the vertical (perpendicular to the shear of the insert). It is a continuous bend from end to end, and is 3/16" - 1/4" at the apex. I carefully inspected the rivets and glue joints on that spar and see nothing unusual. Problem? Do I need to replace the spar? Thanks for any advice, Ed

    Subject: 912 ul compression?
Question? I was at the airport today to go over my Kitfox, and I rotated the prop in the proper direction to pump up the oil. It has been a week so I like to keep it up top. The problem is, I noticed that the prop spun VERY easy, with not much compression. It was 70 deg outside, and I get some sort of compresion stroke probably on one or two clynders, other than that it used to be hard to prop by hand all the way around. 140 hours TT. It starts and runs fine and within temps, mags ok too. I wanted to know off hand the compression Numbers to go and check them out. Thanks, 'Let me know Jay Fabian

There is an Australian Skyfox cowling that fits the Jabiru 2200 but ... not exactly the model 3 round cowling since it is not exactly round like a perfect arc of a circle, as for the model 3. There are three solutions: 1) Buy the Skyfox cowling and modify the windshield, firewall, glareshield and panel to match the new "flatter-on-top" shape. 2) Use you present cowling but extend the forward parts, make them larger (cut in 4 parts) and close the opening to only the two holes for the ram air ducts. 3) Cut your existing cowling in two and mould a new front one. I choose solution 3. It was a lot of epoxy and fiberglass work but it works extremely well and my engine is the coolest (in both meaning) around the block. Cheers, Michel
