    > From: Herbert R Gottelt [gofalke@sbcglobal.net] > Just wondering what kind of formalities are required on the borders between > Eurpean States. For the countries I crossed, Herbert, I needed only to log a flight plan. Those are then sent to local customs authorities. This is, of course, only for the countries members of the European Union. Well, not exactly because Norway is not a member of the Union, but of the EFTA, an economical but not political member. In any case, the key to this is the Schengen convention, signed by both EU and EFTA countries. Schengen opens the borders between the participating countries, you don't need a visa or anything else. You may find some particularities, though. E.g. in Norway, and since I don't intend to land at an airport with customs office, I need to log my flight plan at least 4 hours before passing the border. That is to let the customs officers come to your airfield and check you out, if they want to. It has never happened before, from the memory of the pilots I know. But you're never sure. Cheers, Michel do not archive <pre><b><font size=2 color="#000000" face="courier new, courier"> </b></font></pre></body></html>

Do you have to coat the whole tank inside or can you simply roll the compound around the area of concern? My tank has two internal baffles that will complicate things a little. Fot the outside epoxy, I've decided to go with the Hysol that I already have. The website lists it as being impervious to almost everything this side of Kryptonite, so it should perform this small task well.

I too only get the digest and have had the same question as Howard. I can look at the latest pictures of the Germany flight by Michel because they show up as a link (Makes me jealous I am not yet flying, especially over country like that!). However, the other day someone mentioned they put pictures up of a rudder trim they did. I went online to the "Kitfox - List - Thread" webpage and tried to find pictures...but I am at work and at least have to get something non-airplane-related done occasionally! These Murle Williams fairings look interesting. If I got a pair should I cover first or cover around them? Don McIntosh don@contractorsnorthwest.com Series 7 in progress

I have a Series 5 taildragger kit firewall back for sale. It is in excellent condition, as very little work was done by the first owner (estimate less than 35 hours, so not messed up) and I have not touched it. Kit complete, other than flaparons, but they're now easily obtained from the Kitfox Aircraft factory, or I can locate you some used ones. The wings are factory-built (quickbuilt) and kit includes many options. Gross weight is 1550 (Oct. 1995 production), but it certainly could be built as a light sport aircraft at 1320. I even have a trailer, so you can haul it home from Denver, Colorado. I have a flying, award-winning Kitfox that I built, so I know what I have here. Asking $13,500. I will not part it out. Serious inquiries only, please, by contacting me directly off-list. Thanks, Stan Specht 303-232-8474 sourdostan@aol.com

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: kurt schrader <smokey_bear_40220@yahoo.com> I think it is better to slosh the whole thing and not allow an edge for the fuel to get under. The slosh is fluid enough to slowly go around the baffels. Then you can rotate it every few minutes and get a good layer built up. Then pour out the excess, no problem. Of course, apply the epoxy on the outside first, especially if you put "a little" vacuum on the tank. Yes, it is because you subscribed to the Digest that you can't see the attached photos, Don. Nothing particular of Matronics, Yahoo does the same. The reason is: when you receive an email at the time, the hosting server doesn't have to store it, it is a receive-dispatch operation. In the Digest mode, the server stores all emails for a certain time (a day, a week) then send it to all Digest subscribers. That could be quite a file if there was many large attachments that day or that week. Those of us who have some place on a server (usually, a part of your internet provider's package) and who can write simple HTML codes, it is easier for everyone to post photos there, as I do. For those who don't want to write HTML, there are turnkey packages that does it for you. A kind of slide projector on the internet. You surely have visited some of those before. > Makes me jealous I am not yet flying, especially over country like > that! Thank you. Whenever I fly, I like to take some photos to share the experience with friends. This particular flight to northern Germany wasn't very special, the countryside being rather flat. But I hope my friends over the Atlantic enjoy seeing parts of Europe, just as much I love seeing your beautiful country from the air. Cheers, Michel do not archive

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: Lynn Matteson <lynnmatt@jps.net> And the fact that you're sloshing it BEFORE you put it in the wing makes it a whole lot easier. Unlucky me learned about the need to clean and slosh only after installing the tanks into the wings. Not fun sloshing a 12-foot wing inside an 11-foot 10-inch building. Ed Just to let you know that I followed most of your procedures. Have flown 10 hours now and no problem with carbs. Thank you very much for your help. Jimmie Ed Grasso <grassoe@enter.net> wrote: Ive been seeing a lot of posts about carbs popping out. I had this problem early on with my 912S. Here are some of the things I did to cure it. 1 Look on the sportflight site I posted some pics on how I setup my carb springs (lower springs from hardware store) 2 Had slipper clutch installed by Lockwood. 3 Rough up carb inlet where they fit into sockets with scotchbrite. 4 Clean carb socket with acetone. 5 Dont over tighten the clamp I used washers for the 7mm gap. 6 Make sure your carbs are in sync I used a synchromate 2 I got from Bing Agency you can contact them at 800-309-5808 much better than the dual vacuum gauges also has a built in tach. 7 Use Clints start procedure here is how I do it. He may correct me. 1 Dont use a primer close the throttle and crank 10 seconds with mags off (you must have switches separate from the start switch) holding the enrichiner out to prime. 2 Set throttle to a spot you know will idle 2000 and turn on mags and start. If the engine does not start right up STOP and prime again or clear flood by mags off throttle open and crank. Also after your engine breaks in you will notice much improvement. You can contact me at 610-564-0803 with any questions I will be happy to help. I have not lost a carb in 225 hrs. Ed Grasso
