Guys ,
I hope no one find this intrusive to your site but I came across this very
touching video clip on Child Car seats. I put it on a link so you could see.
Our kids use booster seats as well once over 40 lbs.
We have kids in our families and lives so this should be of interest to
everyone.
I came across this video and posted here
http://www.cfisher.com/
Really hits home on car seats
Best regards ,
Dave

"Child Car seats"?
I was pretty sure that the purpose of this e-mail list was for the
discussion of Kitfox aircraft.
I'm sure that we all have 'interests' other than Kitfox aircraft which we'd
like to IMPOSE (I note the subject e-mail does not even use the 'do not
archive' courtesy note) upon the other listers, but this list has enough
drivel w/o going to "child car seats" which have no direct tie to Kitfox
aircraft.
Let's see, if I were to continue the 'safety theme', I could talk about
vaccinations, bicycle helmets, not running around the swimming pool, not
running with sharp objects, safety glasses, oh, maybe "earplugs", not
playing in the street (oops, there's that 'car' theme again), etc., but I'm
sure that discussion would just lead to 'school shootings' or teen drug use,
when this list is for the discussion of Kitfox aircraft (did I mention that
previously?).
Do not archive

Mic, my S5 is 885 empty and I cruise about 108 ias at 3900 rpm at 22" MP and
4gph fuel flow. I do have the NSI CAP prop which probably accounts for a
lot of the performance and also lots of fairings including fuel caps and
radiator and wheels.
Oil/coolant temp on an 80 degree day are generally around 200f.
What type of Soob are you running? Perhaps you don't have enough prop
pitch? Normal aspirated or turbo?

Brian sorry that you feel that way.
I thought it was very touching and could help others save a child's life.
I add plenty about Kitfox talk so I appolize that this is off topic.
Well it got your attention and that was the point of it .
It worked
Thanks

Your empty weight is about the same as mine but I bet you do not have enough
pitch in the prop. When I first flew mine I had 11 deg in the prop and got
about the same # you have then I increased it to 17 1/2 and got a cruise in
the 90's. What pitch are you using?

Subject: | Fuel Shut-Off Valve |
I was hoping to start my engine for the first time the other day but the
first three fuel shut-off valves I installed (same brand & model) leaked.
I'd rather not use the one Skystar supplied 'cuz it's so heavy. Can anyone
suggest a fuel valve that is effective, light weight & I don't have to make
major modifications to my center console to install?
Thanks,

Dave, Don't apologise, I am a school bus driver and see quite a few auto
accidents. The only ones I have seen where kids were injured, they weren't
properly secured in the vehicles. Our large busses do not have seat belts
but the smaller ones have seat belts and shoulder harnesses.
It doesn't hurt at all to be a little off topic if it could possibly save
a child from permanent injury.

I must have missed that poll, where is it?

so don't let others make up you mind for you. Do the reading and research and
you will see that all be just fine, (if it meets the rest of the perameters.)
Anyone interested in learning about why you MAY alter your Experinental, such as

NOW LSA eligible, e-mail me and I will get back as soon as possible. It can
be done under the letter of the law, (as intended) no problem.

Dave,
Some off-topic posts are fine, but should be noted so in the subject. When
you just title it "Video", listers rightly expect the video to be about a
Kitfox or some other aviation related topic.
So this goes for everyone, if you want to post an off-topic message, please
put "fluff", "off topic", or some other warning in the header. As you can
see, not doing so will get you jumped on my the other members. If you have
questions, just contact me or Deke Morisse

Guys ,
I hope no one find this intrusive to your site but I came across this very
touching video clip on Child Car seats. I put it on a link so you could see.
Our kids use booster seats as well once over 40 lbs.
We have kids in our families and lives so this should be of interest to
everyone.
I came across this video and posted here
http://www.cfisher.com/
Really hits home on car seats
Best regards ,

I thought this was OK and not really off topic. About a year ago I attended a safety
seminar put on by the Michigan Department of Aeronautics that was focused
around traveling with children. Child seats were very much a part of this seminar
complete with examples of child seat installations in a Cessna 172 and 206.
Why would this not apply to a Kitfox as well?

running with sharp objects, safety glasses, oh, maybe "earplugs", not
playing in the street (oops, there's that 'car' theme again), etc., but I'm
sure that discussion would just lead to 'school shootings' or teen drug use,
when this list is for the discussion of Kitfox aircraft (did I mention that
previously?).

Deke and Don and the list members-
I need a bit of clarification regarding what happens when we add "do
not ar-----" to our posts. Does this mean that someone down the line,
looking at a particular thread, will not see the post thus marked? Will
the "not archi---" message get to the ones who chose to be served by
the digest? I get my info via email, and assume I see them all, even
the ones marked "d- no- ar-----". But how soon do all of our messages
get sent through the D N A "filter" and thus sent to never-never land?
As I hope you can tell, I avoided using the phrase "du knot rchive" to
avoid this message being so filtered....yet or ever.
I have put the operative phrase in my signature, and leave it there for
some of the stuff I comment on or write, and take it off when I think
the post should "live"...some would say I need to leave it there on all

With all the talent that this list seems to encompass, it seems
unlikely that one person, that being Steve, has hit upon something that
no one else seems to support. Has anyone called the FAA or the EAA for
confirmation of his suggestions? Steve, have you? For myself, I'm happy
to live by the 1200 lb. gross that Skystar has set for my plane, and
that I have burned into my data plate, so I have not looked further
into the matter. But it seems like such a long, ongoing thread that
someone would have put the matter to rest by now, for better or for
worse.
And forgive me if someone HAS supported Steve's campaign, because I
have NOT followed each and every post pertaining to it.

I have no issue with the WARP measurements or how to measure them and I was
the one who did measure thanks to Don's head up and I was the test pilot at

I made videos lately to help others like GUY who could not tak his Kitfox

I hope that I have helped others with these videos and any comments. As you

Subject: | Question for Don & Deke re "do not..." |
Lynn,
The "Do not archive" message causes the Matronics messaging software to flag
the message as one that does not go into the archives. It will get delivered
to all subscribers, even the digest subscribers.
The problem with using that D.N.A. phrase is that if you respond to a
message that does have the "do not archive" text in it, and do not delete
the phrase, then the thread will be lost forever.
So you can use the phrase, but just be aware that when you do, a lot of good
info may be lost.

Howard,
I didn't get one when I bought my plane (Model IV Speedster) from the previous
owner. I called John & Debra Mcbean and had one in a few days. The book (pamphlet)
is very professionally done, about 50 pages. It covers the Model 4- 1050,
the Model 4- 1200, the Model 4 Speedster and the Classic 4.

Dave, I can appreciate your love for children and their safety. There's
not
a one of us on this list who feels otherwise. However, what you posted
is
totally against the rules of the Matronics lists and it only invites
what
you call "the ones who whined" to ask you to desist. You cannnot decide
for
yourself which rules you want to respect and the ones you don't want to.
There are plenty of other forums for these topics so please, in the
future,
use those forums.
Your cooperations will be appreciated.

Kitfoxes have flown with lawn tractor tires since day one. I have never
heard of anyone having an accident, incident or even a flat due to tire
"failure". Lancair yes, Kitfox no!
Respectfully,
Lowell
Me either Lowell. I use lawn tractor tyres and love them. I do have
wheel pants though and maybe without they might chuck up a bit of
rubbish. Originally we ran about 12 lbs pressure but the tyres turned on
the rims after a while and pulled the valve stems. I now run 18 PSI and
everything is fine. Maybe they are a little harder but then they don't
squirm around either. The original buffed down ATV tyres were shocking.
I'd never go that way again.
Rex.

You will find that the turbo sort of takes the place of an adjustable prop.
With your adjustable you are aiming to keep the RPM in the top of the Tq
curve, with a correctly matched turbo you have a nice wide flat curve, thus
enabling operation near the top over a broad range. I also have an
intercooler as well which further helps.~j~

Mic, my S5 is 885 empty and I cruise about 108 ias at 3900 rpm at 22" MP and

"Child Car seats"?
I was pretty sure that the purpose of this e-mail list was for the
discussion of Kitfox aircraft. I'm sure that we all have 'interests'
other than Kitfox aircraft which we'd like to IMPOSE (I note the subject
e-mail does not even use the 'do not archive' courtesy note) upon the
other listers, but this list has enough drivel w/o going to "child car
seats" which have no direct tie to Kitfox aircraft. Let's see, if I were
to continue the 'safety theme', I could talk about vaccinations, bicycle
helmets, not running around the swimming pool, not running with sharp
objects, safety glasses, oh, maybe "earplugs", not playing in the street
(oops, there's that 'car' theme again), etc., but I'm sure that
discussion would just lead to 'school shootings' or teen drug use, when
this list is for the discussion of Kitfox aircraft (did I mention that
previously?).

Thanks, Don...I hadn't given a thought to the re-posting of a message
with "D.N.A." included. I'll keep that in mind.

Subject: | Re: Treaded Tyres |
What i cant figure out is why anyone would take a 20. dollar tire grind
off the lugs or tread and then charge 125. dollars for them . And some
of us were just smart enought to buy them lol . I buy KENDA tires now i
like the straight lugs better than the small square ones that the CHENG
SHIN tires have. Have never had another flat since running the treaded
tires on my Kitfox 2 .

Subject: | Rough Running 912 UL |
Hi List,
I have a 912 UL with 145 tthours. It had a rough spot at about 3000-3200
rpms on the ground or in the air.
I have checked and regapped the plugs to .028,
cleaned out the bowls on the carbs,
cleaned off the neddle and dome area, sanded the ground wire lugs for
the coils to get a good ground.
Checked the carb Ballance -its ok.
It all has not helped at all, even makes the rough ness worse some
times. Going from 2k rpms- 3k rpms it is almost like it is bogging down,
and you have to sort of pump the throttle to get the rpms past the 3-3.2
k mark.
Doing the mag check it is very rough on each side also, and I am using
gas with the 10 % methanol( exact amount unknown )
My qquestion is any ideas on the cause, there was no visible dirt or
matter in the bowls either?????
I am going to try and put in new plugs and then try some AV gas instead.
Let me know what you think
Thanks
Jay
