Yes it can . I put one on a 582 and it works well. I haven't had to change any

Yes, the undercambered wings, the flaperons and the lexan, Rick. On my
model 3, I have a Jabiru 2200 and I can't use full throttle at level
because I would bust the red line of 100 MPH. But that's not a problem
with me, I like to fly and have no haste to arrive to destination! :-)

Probably the engine, I can't think of anything that would prevent the
plane itself. In Norway, I fly up to 8,500 ft to pass over the
mountains, both with the original Rotax 582 and the new Jabiru and
never noticed a problem. Incidentally, the Jabiru has an
altitude-compensated Bing carburettor but ... I don't notice a
difference in performance, both

Hi Pedro I taped a small piece of wood such as a broom handle to the bottom
of the flaperons extending forward to a point 1" below the forward wing
spars. Center the control stick and adjust linkage rods to fit flaperons.
You may need to lengthen or shorten both equally from there to get the
proper nuetral flap setting. Be sure to check for binding when moving stick
to all extreme positions. Ron NB Ore

Hi Ron, I can't believe the mail service, the prop showed up today!! It
sure looks nice. Except for the slight mark on the one blade, if you said
it was brand new. no one would argue with you. Well I got it mounted on
the plane and made a quick trip around the patch. Not enough pitch, 7000rpm
and 1350 EGT. The EGTs really had me scared till I got back on the ground.
Repitched the prop and rpm and EGT dropped but still to high on the next
trip around the patch, but by the time I got things readjusted for the next
try, it was getting to late to try it out again. Well I'll try it some more
tomorrow. I made out a check for you and got it in an envelope to drop in
the mail. Thanks again, Jim

Subject: | KITFOX HELP NEEDED |
Hello Kitfox owners and builders
I am the proud new owner of a very nice Kitfox V Vixon. I am having it
transported, and need help to remove the wings for transport. If there is anyone
that is familiar with removing the wings on this model so I can get it into
an enclosed trailer I would like to talk to you. It is in the Atlanta area if
anyone could help on Monday afternoon.
I built an Avid Flyer in 1987 and have been flying it ever since. I love
the Avid, but want to move up to a newer faster type of plane without the
losing the fun factor the Avid always has.
This forum has provided a lot of useful information and inspiration. I
hope this Kitfox will keep me enjoying the thrill of flight for the next 10
years or more.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark I can tell you some of the things to be careful with. The fuel from
the tank and hose must not touch the window so have plans to plug both the
line and tank if cut or what is needed. Secure the flaperon so as not to
over rotate and damage where the hinges will hit the end of slots. I folded
the wings and hung from rafters in garage with a rope safetied to each spar
and a strap around wing near tip. Ropes to pull slightly away from
fuselage. Removed strut brace, all strut nuts, lower bolt, then upper bolts
to free the strut. The plane then rolled forward and left the wings
hanging. Two people make the job a breeze in a garage. Good luck and good
questioin as prevention is WAY better than the cure. Ron NB Ore

Michel,
The last time I wrote you I am sure I misspelled your name. Sorry.
What is the blue tool you show in your picture apparently identified
as torch? If it is a torch, it is unlike any I have ever used. No
Jabiru engine as yet but curious.

Subject: | Re: KITFOX HELP NEEDED |
Hi Mark,
To add another method, here is how I did mine for
transport:
First, as was already said, use 2 people. Much less
risk.
I leveled my plane, since mine is a tail dragger, but
you are ahead on this already.
Second, disconnect all flight control, fuel and wiring
connections.
Third, I found that a padded step ladder fit under my
wings near the outboard end at a rib. Not sure if the
trigear will fit the same??? The taildragger gear may
be taller.
Fourth, remove the lift struts being careful not to
damage anything top or bottom. Remove the bottom bolt
first, but leave in place. Lub the bottom for easier
removal. Undue the top bolts and be careful for wing
setteling. Make sure not to drop the strut and bend
the bottom tabs. The second person may need to lift
the wing slightly for strut removal at the top. Once
the top is disconnected, rotate the strut gently fore
and aft to undue the bottom. Don't poke your wing
while looking at the bottom.
Fifth, undue the spar bolts and carefully remove the
wing with someone on both ends.
Nothing extra needed except the ladder and padding.
Make sure to have a place to lay the wing down. I
built 2 inverted "T" stands with padding for the wings
to stand on their noses on either side of the T. Just
strapped the wings to the T's.

Hummm. You could:
Support the new owners at
http://www.sportplanellc.com/
Or try lexan cut to fit.
Mine is fiberglass, but that would take some time to
fabricate yourself.
Aluminum is light, but will drum unless you put fabric
over it.
Do you have an old one? If not, someone might be able
to send you a pattern from theirs.
Just a few ideas since the list is so quiet.

Subject: | Enclosed Trailer for KitFox IV Speedster |
Original Message:
I am in the process of purchasing a KitFox, and need a
way to get it home.
Does anyone have or know of anyone that has an
enclosed trailer that will accept a Model IV
Speedster...?
I have an open Skystar trailer (not 4 Sale) that came
with my plane. It has one axle and carries the
aircraft with wings folded just fine without damage
behind a vehicle as light as a Jeep. I saw a website
not long ago that has quite a few KF trailers 4 Sale,
mostly home made, including enclosed. I think it was
referenced on this list.
If you haul it, be sure the transport vehicle is
lightly sprung or the aircraft is properly cushioned
and adequately secured from shifting or rocking
against the sides. Years ago I used truck inner tubes
to support aircraft and parts being hauled on open
trucks and trailers. My son has hauled wings
successfully by cradling them with ropes suspended in
a cattle trailer. It seems that an enclosed trailer
runs the risk of damage to the aircraft in loading and
unloading or load shifting.
Airplanes are meant to be flown. If it is airworthy
and you are not prepared to fly it home yourself,
contact me off list and I can give you the name of a
pilot with lots of Kitfox time who may be interested
in ferrying it for you to supplement his income. He
stopped commercial flying for a career change.
