Ron, I'll try to answer for Lowell. This is a Microsoft Excel file. If you have
Microsoft Office, the file should open by itself according to the .xls extension.
If you don't have Microsoft Office, you can get OpenOffice, an open source
(free) program that will open it for you. If you are on a Macintosh, you can
run Microsoft Excel for Mac, and open the file. If you are on a Mac and don't
have any Microsoft product, you can still open it using an open source program
for the Mac.
I am in the latter situation and I could open the file, so I guess anyone else
could. Good luck.
Cheers,
Michel

Hi Lowell:
I'm the proud owner of a KF Classic IV. It has a Revmaster 4 cycle engine.
It's also a taildragger (something I'm still getting used to...had a trike
before).
Let me know what other information you'd like. Also, I'd like to hear from
other Revmaster owners.
Thanks for the welcome.

To Leroy and all.
What you submit for inclusion is based on your personal preference.
There are now columns for speeds, useful load, serial number, hours, etc.
Drop a note and I will add it.
For those still building, my guess is that engine, performance and useful
load info would be useful.

Subject: | Re: rough running 912ul |
Hi John, we have been struggling with this same problem on our 912 on and
off for a few years. We did notice the same effect on the plugs. It has
been explained to us as the effect of the radius on the intake pipes which
are curved just before they enter the cylinders. Since the front cylinders
are on the "outside" of that curve so to speak and since the centrifugal
force will tend to push the fuel droplets towards the outside of the bend,
then the front cylinders get a richer fuel/air mixture than the back
cylinders. That has always been our experience and even though we have
resolved the rough running problem, we still have sooty front plugs and nice
brown rear plugs. We have never been able to get them the same colour - but
our engine runs smoothly now after many, many other adjustments and trials.
I suspect that this is what you are experiencing and may not have anything
to do with the rough running. Hope this helps.

I think we should create a Revmaster posting for those of us using VW as a
powerplant. I haven't had a real good opportunity to put the plane (and VW)
through any difficult tests yet. I have flown it for about 15-20 hours just
getting used to the idiosyncrasies of the plane. This summer I'll focus on
the plant and prop.

Tim:
I just replied to another Revmaster owner. Let's get our own Revmaster
posting so all of us VW guys can talk turkey (or powerplant!). I've only
flown this aircraft for about 15 hours trying to get used to it. My
previous plant was a 2 cycle 582. I haven't made any performance figures,
but an unscientific comparison is that the Revmaster is outperforming the
Rotax. Remember I'm just new at this flying stuff so if I step on anyone's
toes I don't mean it.
As I complete my winter maintenance and get back in the air (March I hope)
I'll be able to do some real testing and report back to the group.

Subject: | Re: New Guy (DO NOT ARCHIVE) |
Hi Ted:
Actually I purchased a Kitfox last April, but really don't have that
many flight hours in it (15 hours). I had an Avid Mark IV trike before,
but it literally bit the dust as I was landing and a burst of wind blew
me off the runway into an embankment.
Now I'm almost to the point of relearning how to fly. My KF Classic IV
is just a little bigger (the cabin has much more room), I have a new
powerplant (from a Rotax 582 to a Revmaster 2100D), a 3 bladed
composite, ground adjustable prop. to a two bladed wooden Sensinica
non-adjustable; not to say going from a trike landing gear configuration
to a taildragger...makes a guy feel quite challenged!
I have both an ultralight and sport pilot license. No urge to get a
general aviation or private license. Just want to get up to 1000' or
maybe 2000' and fly on some silky smooth air for an hour or so and come
home and tuck the baby away for another few days.
Flying has been a dream of mine for years. I've only been in the
"flying business" for a couple years. It's my avocation, my hobby.
