Just a random work in progress for my amusement. Simple, Non-type specific. Nothing to sell. No ads. Open to anyone. Has no purpose. http://84kf.blogspot.com/ So far it was easy to setup, free, ...and I'm learning something new. When I'm board I'll just delete the whole thing but for now remember I don't know what I'm doing. This is high altitude stuff to me and I'm normally aspirated. steve Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=99756#99756

Nice layout, Steve. Often, less is more; keep it simple. And ... thank you for quoting Voltaire! :-) Cheers, Michel do not archive

Of course, with a black & white display, "keep the blue side up" becomes meaningless, Bob, but ... who cares? Our aircraft are not IFR certified and we use gyro instruments only in the hope that if the weather turns nasty on us, we have a better chance to avoid a deadly spin in IMC. If that situation arises (hopefully, never!) then who cares if the sky is blue and the earth is brown? Readability is then paramount and black & white should give a good enough contrast. What I find more important is that this instrument - as my TruTrak turn coordinator - shows the horizon moving in relation to a fixed aircraft, as opposed to the conventional turn coordinator that shows an aircraft that banks its wings in one or the other direction. If you are used to that kind of visual feedback, that's fine. But the artificial horizon logic of having the half circle of the earth to move in relation to the blue sky, is more intuitive because it is exactly what you would see if you could see the horizon. Correcting a bank with the aileron becomes then very logic. One thing I have read and been told by experienced pilots is that; once the conditions become difficult - as when it's all grey around the plane - our brain tends to freeze. For that reason, I have made my rule of actions in order of importance, which is: 1) Fly straight, 2) control altitude, 3) work a way out of this situation. Cheers, Michel do not archive

I'm using their Ultra H-XL in my KF Mod2. I really like it for basic VFR stuff. Sure is nice to not have the weight and get the EIS functions with warnings. I know you're looking for just the ADI, so go to www.sportflyingshop.com, look there, and call Matt. He's a big help, and the main U.S. distributor for MGL. There is a Stratomaster Yahoo group, and the owner/developer Rainier Lamars monitors it for questions. Jerry, The wing designer will arrive at an airfoil shape to obtain the desired flight characteristics. With our fabirc wings the fabric sags betweent the ribs which essentially modifies the airfoil of the wings. The false ribs restores the design airfoil to an extent. Other designs (Rans) will use aluminum or thin plywood between the ribs at the leading edge to more exactly get the design profile. Trimming them to the profile of the rib will give you the closest to the design. As mentioned, my plane is in Barnstormers reduced to $19K. Interesting, I received an email from a David Stan in England who was interested. He asked a couple questions which I replied. Today he sent an offer (sight unseen) but there was a slight catch. He had already authorized a US purchasing agent to spend $36,000. So, it was my lucky day. Instead of $19K I get $36K but have to pay for the shipping to the UK. The only other catch was, I need to send a photo copy of my US Passport to get the ball rolling. This is slightly off topic but meant to be a warning for anyone advertising their planes on line. I can't believe that some people might fall for such a scam. Barnstormers warned of this and I have notified them. Don Smythe

Don, .1 of a volt is nothing. each cell should be 2.1 volt min. best test is volt meter across the terminals of battery and even 12.6 volt reading does not mean much until you put a load test to it . 300 amp load will show right away a dead or dying cell . Also know as a carbon pile but you can get a cheap one for 30 $ or so now. Most shops have one you could take your battery into get tested. First check that all the cells are full. If they are you may be having a bit of sulphation. Sometimes that can be cured with a digital pulse charger. If the cells are all up on their fluid check the specific gravity of the cells for a weak cell. If you find one you'll probably need a new battery. Anything over 13V should be enough to charge your battery as long as you don't have to start the engine every ten minutes. Any thing over 15V continuous will cook your battery in a surprisingly short time. This happened to a friend of mine selling an airplane. Guy in another country sent my friend a cashiers check for $100,000 for his airplane unseen....50 grand more than the asking price. Only catch was, my friend was supposed to send this guy the change, $40,000, keep $10,000 for the trouble. The $40,000 was to be wired to a specific account overseas. My friend almost did it, but his bank discovered that the cashiers check was no good. Word to the wise....a cashiers check is not even safe anymore. ----- Original Message ----- From: Malcolmbru@aol.com To: kitfox-list@matronics.com Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2007 8:02 PM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Barnstormers (Warning) me too I also have been talking to this David guy from ingland on the net.
