Quiet day on the site and I don't have any epoxy paint available right now, so
...
Any actual experiences or problems with using Rustoleum to touch up some nicks
in powdercoat? We're talking match-head size stuff, not repainting a length of
tube. I have small cans of primer and gloss in white, matching the powdercoat.
The alternative on-hand is some clear 2-part epoxy. My metallurgist friend
says to use the Rustoleum, due to the zinc in the primer. As much as anything,
I'm wondering if PolyTac will dissolve it (due to the MEK) but then re-seal
the nicks. Again, I'd appreciate actual experience, not what people think maybe
could happen.

I use it all the time.... for touch up....takes a long time to
dry..............

Rustoleum will dissolve so fast it will make your head spin with anything
with MEK in it. Otherwise, it is a great paint for Steel.
The answer is that it won't work well with the Polyfiber system

Thanks so much to everyone. I think we may have it nailed down and I think it is
a no-brainer i.e. I have no brains. Reading the comments on fuel starvation
got me thinking. The problem usually arises after 15 or 20 minutes of running.
We were linking it to the heating up over this time but of course this is about
the time it takes to empty the header tank! As soon as this light bulb went
off in my head I sent a message to the airfield to check the header tank. Back
came a message saying the problem had arisen again, in the air this time, and
after about 20 minutes of flight and as it did the low fuel warning light came
on. It seems to confirm it's the flow from the wing tanks to the header tank
and I think it is as simple as: The fuel lines having a slight bow up as they
come out of the tanks. I know, the warnings about this are everywhere! In my
defence, I did stress this to the owner and we did make sure they were going
downwards but in our concern about folding the wings (we've had to do a lot of
it) we left quite a bit of length and it is my guess that during many folding
and unfoldings of the wings the hoses have moved up a bit in the clamps and are
now slightly bowed up. I'm not at the airfield and can't check this. I am tied
to work and fly out of the country for several days tomorrow so will not know
until next week. If it is not this then I think it will be something else
related to fuel flow from the wing tanks. I think we are on to it. I will advise
next week in a new thread. Again thanks. All the replies have been very helpful.

My KITFOX 2 was done in the poly system, all diana cream with a green, Piper
Cub style lightening bolt on the side.
The green trim is rustoleum, applied a little over 3 years ago and has been
fine. Looks great, very easy to apply. I keep the cans warm, not hot, as I
spray buy keeping them in warm water. this ensures good pressure. Flows
great, excellent coverage. I used a mist coat, then in about 15 min the colour
coat.
I am certain its not the right combination and there are better, but it was
very easy, looks great and worked for me :-)

Something else to check... It has happened that while pushing the hose onto
the barbed fitting.. the fitting sliced into the hose and created a flap
inside the hose...

Hi Kirk,I made my own gap seals on my kitfox 4 and they work great,after
talking with the group I decided to do mine with 3" wide pinking tape and
repaint my fabric on the tail,just a little poly tac and some pinking
fabric and it makes a nice looking pro job.....heres a pic.....

Looking for opinions,
I have an S5 and will be putting on the 912 ULS. I also purchased the IVO
medium 72". I am thinking about mounting the IVO in the 2 blade
configuration to save weight and wanting to put the plane on floats later
on. Has anyone tried the IVO 72" 3 or 2 blade?
