Since when was 55-60mph over the numbers slow?

I guess the question would be, do you need that much flaps. I can land
short with no flaps and roll out at most 300 ft. Landing with no flaps is a
lot of fun, no stress on the arm, pulling back. Generally when I land slow,
lets say 55-60mph over the numbers and then at 5 ft off the runway I flair
and add just a touch of throttle the tail will hit first. So I have plenty
of elevator. When I do wheel landings I go about 5mph faster and let it set
ever so nicely that I usually don't know I'm down, I glance at the wheels to
see that their moving, then I drop the power and the tail comes down nice
and easy. When lifting off I get possitive control on the elevator and
responds very nicely. Sealing the gaps are well worth it.

Dan,
I'm just now working on the forward section of the fuse, the wings are done. I
think this is good since I started the build in August of last year. I'm doing
slow build. It's been a real fun build, I don't want to do another one, I would
rather be flying, but never the less the build has been very fun.
Mike,
For me this is slow, if you know how I fly, you would think this is slow. I to
date this year have about 750 landings and over 50 hrs. I can put in 20 touches
in 45 minutes. Many times I'll be doing 80 over the numbers and land 500 ft
down the runway. When I want to land short, I think my speed is around 50 I don't
look, all I know is I'm nice and short and hit the very edge of the runway.
Why not put the 50 over the fence, that will probably be more on track. When
I fly I try all sort of landings, real short, extended pattern everything
I can think of, that way when I need to vear from the norm, I can handle it without
any thought. I even ask the tower for various clearances while doing a
one wheel touch and go. At first they didn't want to respond back, now they do.

Subject: | Model 2 for sale |
I will be taking the remains of a Model II to Sun 'N Fun next month to be put in
the Fly Market. It has a complete fuselage with some bent tubes, I think that
someone with appropriate knowledge & welding skill could reapir it. It has the
left wing although damaged is repairable and the lift strut. There is a complete
panel, fuel tanks, droop style wing tips etc. There is a 2nd Chantz parachute.
There is no right wing, only the fuel tank that I removed from it.
This aircraft suffered a hard landing and has been de-registered. You can use it
for parts. If you wish to fly it you will need to rebuild it, have it inspected,
and issued a new certificate. You can't relicense it under the old certificate.
The engine which had a cold seizure of the rear piston, repairable, will be in
the engine section of the Fly Market. The GSC prop hub and 2 of the 3 blades will
be there as well.
I had originally purchased it with the notion of salvaging some of the instruments
for my Model 2 that I currently fly but have decided against that. I hope
to sell the airframe complete - as is - you haul.

I don't think it's a viable way to power an airship. Just one of those
things like screws being better in water than paddles.
But (I always seem to have a "but")
I think it could go a long way to turning the airships during landing,
especially in a bit of wind. Any one on the group have any experience with
airships??
