This far North we have to do another W&B if the weight of the aircraft has changed by more than 10% since the last W&B. Smaller changes can be documented with an amendment to the W&B. you would still have the paper work but don't have to go get scales and level wings etc. etc.. Check with your AI. I'm pretty sure there is a similar procedure south of the lakes. I bought an extra set of tyres for my fox, so far the old tyres have 4 years and this year to date 117 flights and 1027 landings, they still look great, I fly a bunch. I think the reason tyres wear is not because they are landed on grass versus asphalt, but because we land a little crooked. I would recommend anybody having trouble with tyre wear to have a CFI that is tail wheel fly with you to determine if you have a squaring problem on touch down, if that isn't the problem than I would check your landing gear to see if it has a problem with alignment. Oh and 99% of my landings are on asphalt. -------- kitfoxmike model IV, 1200 speedster 912ul building RV7a slowbuild wings, fuse Do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=110617#110617

They did an excellent job on my plane for the many years she flew from a grass airfield but after two years on the asphalt I fly from, they got worn down. Looking for an alternative, I asked the guys on this list and got a lot of interesting answers. Finally, I went to a local tyre specialist and asked what he had available. I wanted smooth tyres because I am afraid of gravel being projected on my wings. He recommended a locally produced tyre 0f 18x9.50 - 8. Of course it is a smaller tyre but it is 4-ply and very resistant. It also needs more pressure. While the Cheng Shin needs 7 lbs, mine require much more, up to 24 lbs. But I put only 16 to 18 lbs in them and ... mind you, it gives a harder ride, especially where the asphalt has some holes. But they have served me good for the past year and half and show no trace of wear. The brand is Rwde and since its written with a Scandinavian letter, I guess ... it is Scandinavian. But I am sure you'll find other similar brands in France, or in the US. Many people on the list are very happy with huge tundra tyres but the question is: Is it good on asphalt or concrete? I ordered two new caps and gaskets, installed a new cap with new gasket, and safety wired it nice and tight, and that solved the problem, never to leak again, still have that other new cap and gasket if any one needs one. Look at a lawn mower gas cap. I caution that it does have to breath or oil will not flown properly. I learned that while draining the oil to change it. At 10:33 PM 5/1/2007, you wrote: >My aft carb is filling with oil. (582) It appears the oil injection >system is allowing oil to slowly migrate from the tank to the oil >injection port. I spoke with Bob Robertson. It turns out the banjo fittings connecting the pump to the oil feeds contain check valves. He says these occasionally leak. Unfortunately he also says he's never had any luck cleaning them so I'll just have to replace the one that's passing oil. Parts are on order. Thanks for all the responses. And support Bob Robertson at Light Engine Services. He's a hell of a nice guy, knows his stuff, and is always helpful.
