HI Don,
I have collected some general information which may help you in your
installation. I'll get it from my hangar today or tomorrow and forward
it to you. I know there are a few kitfoxs mounted on full lotus floats
so finding specific mounting instructions should be easy. Have you
contacted full lotus?

The Hughes movie we're thinking about is Hell's Angels, a movie he directed

Don,
Great movie? I don't know, but sometimes we do crazy things. After seeing
the movie for the first time, my next flight was into Fairbanks I was
carring an empty 100lb propane bottle strapped down behind me in a
C-172.....I made it and everything was in place when I arrived.

I have been in touch with Kitfox and John advises that they have a PVc
fairing kit. Has anyone used this and do you have pictures? The original
fairings from the damaged struts was a wood-like material that is very
hard and cannot be removed. I can't imagine that PVC would be as strong.
Any ideas??

Dave,
I have the PVC fairings on my airplane. They are tough, I don't worry if
someone is helping move the airplane by grabbing the fairing covered lift
struts.
I think the most common argument against them is that they are relatively
heavy vs. a light weight wood.

I did not install mine, but I give them a bulletproof rating. They're
certainly a lot harder than my head!

"Strong like bull" to quote some lame B-movie that I saw years ago. I
installed the PVC fairings that were produced back in about 1994 or
so, and they are tough. I covered mine with Polyfiber cloth, and
painted with Polytone just like any fabric-covered part. I have some
pictures.

Yes! Another very good flying movie. I've got a tape of this one, and
watch it every now and then. I took note of the propping scene where
Waldo bounces the prop backwards against compression, to kick the
engine to life...I've done this with model engines many times.

I have them on my plane, I left them alone, no paint, no glue, just snapped them
on and away I went. about 400 hrs on them, they look great. When I removed
the wood off one side I weighed the wood and then weighed the plastic, pretty
much the same.

I notice there are two styles of wing tips being offered at the present
time. The classic drooped tips and the Hoerner style.
I have the drooped style on my plane but I was wondering if any one has
tried both styles and found any increase in lift of one style over the
other. I fly entirely off water on floats ( the only way to go ) and as
you
expect every bit of lift I can get is appreciated.
C-FINB is ready for flight if the ice will ever melt!.... next week is
looking good.
Picture taken last spring.
It was mentioned to me that the drooped tips obscure visibility... Has
any
one else noticed this?

This is coming very soon but it should be a great fly-in. EAA Chapter

is having a fly-in pancake breakfast and lunch at Anoka County Airport
in
Blaine, MN on May 19th and 20th
Chapter 237's Famous Pancake Breakfast with sausage and beverage runs
from
7a.m. to noon and lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and chili runs until
4p.m.
There are two really great aviation museums on the airport. Golden

includes five trimotors. American Wings Air Museum has a collection of
warbirds from WWII to Dessert Storm. They also have a Wright Flyer
replica,
an original 1911 Steco biplane plus many other exhibits.
There was a Swift, an Ercoupe, a Luscombe T8-F plus a lot of other
vintage

There will be a Hangar Dance Saturday evening with the Sights and Sounds
