Is the problem soft peddles or do the brakes just not hold well? New brake pads need to broken in by applying a little pressure to them while taxing. I can't remember the specifics so maybe someone can help here. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV, Phase one 503, Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=112909#112909

The model 1, 2, and 3 used the under cambered wing. Starting with the model 4 the wings are the Harry Riblett airfoil. It is pretty close to flat on the bottom. To make it a speedster you clip 18 inches off. It has been refered to as laminar flow. Avoid that debate like the plague. It is builders choice on the airfoiled tail surfaces. Some do all, some do some and some do none. The IV 1200 airframe has larger tubing than the 1050. Mostly in the spar carry through tubes in the fuselage. The kitfox marketing materials of that time period stated the kitfox in the aerobatic video did not have a modified airframe. They also made a point of recommending you not try this at home. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV, Phase one 503, Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=112818#112818

Has anyone out there replaced or originally install a pitot/static tube instead of the original one supplied by Skystar? Also, what would be the best way to install my speedster wing tips so I could easily remove themnut plates or anchor nuts a good idea? What are Pk screws? Ref e-mail on wings and speedster, my classic model 4 speedster does not have any elevator trim at all. Wish it did, not an option. -- Leon

Tom, if your Kitfox is a taildragger you might not want too much brakes. My brakes won't hold for a mag check, I have to do it on the run, but I am less worried about going over on the nose. I love it, although I'm having some minor problems that nobody else seems to be having. Search the archives for the last 7-10 days on the Matronics JabiruEngine-List for the details. I especially like the simple, no coolant, no prop adjustment, slow- turning, direct-drive, single carb, features of the Jabiru. It might come up a bit short on power, but for flying and building simplicity, you can't beat it. Hello, I am in the Market to Purchase a Kitfox V Vixen to fly under LSA Rules and I am hoping to find someone near the Cameron Park, California (O61) area with whom I can take a flight with. I also work in the Bay Area and can fly out of San Carlos (KSQL) if someone in that area can accommodate my request. Regards, Steven http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/?link=list&sid=396545469

Pk screws are the coarse thread sheet metal screws they sometimes use in duct work. Some guys use them to hold the inspection plates in the floors or their Cessnas. There are tinnerman nuts that give a pretty good hold with PK screws. I wouldn't consider structural use for them. Go with anchor nuts or tinnerman nuts with structural screws for the wing tips. What would you say if you saw one or your wingtips deplane before coming to a complete stop in front of the hangar??...at 5000'agl???
