I know of one guy who is in the process of doing this. He should be working on
flight testing now. I am awaiting a report of his performance and will relay
      them when I find out.

Darin, How do you like the performance of your 914 turbo? Do you think
the added initial expense is worth the performance increase, and what
kind of fuel burn do you have/
      Thanks,

      Steve,

I haven't flown it yet as I am still under construction so I can't tell you from
first hand experience. However, there are two guys up in Idaho (Maybe Mark
will chime in on the performance of his 914) that are running the 914 and they
say the performance is amazing! Fuel burn is not much different from the 912s
because you throttle back to around 60% - 65% during cruise and get speeds in
the 120-130 range. Mark says he can easily hit the 140 Vne in his series 7
and he says the deck angle during climb out can be scary if you push it.

As far as the initial cost goes, it is substatially more than the 912s but I will
take my chances that the performance is going to make up the difference. I
do a lot of my flying in the high elevations of Utah, Idaho and Montana and as
far as I am concerned, HP is my friend.

Thanks Darin, I live in north central Idaho, right next to the Selway.
I drive a 172 and am seriously considering building the Kitfox. John
McBean gave me a ride in the Super Sport last week and I was very
impressed with the 912s performance especially compared to our Cessna.
Right now I am just trying to get as much information as I can before I
      finally take the plunge!
