I think if he is low hours, than he should tighten them up, it will be a little more responsive on slow taxi. To tighten them just take some of your stainless wire for tying up the bolts and run through a link skip a couple and go through another link and then tighten until you have them equal on both sides. -------- kitfoxmike model IV, 1200 speedster 912ul building RV7a slowbuild wings, fuse, finish kit "if you're not getting razzed from pilots or the FAA then you're not flying enough" Do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=121968#121968 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 06:53:42 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Arlington 2007 From: "kitfoxmike" For those thinking of flying into arlington, make sure and go to the site for arlington and download the Notam for such. some very good read there, make sure and click on the flying in, on the left side. http://www.nweaa.org/ , and if you want a direct link, http://www.nweaa.org/notam/notam2007.pdf, this one is very cool, this is for a friday and saturday arrival, http://www.nweaa.org/notam/2007-AWO-NOTAM-Fri-Sat.pdf If you are planing on flying from the east, make sure you follow the weather all the way up to the hour before you cross over the mountains. I will tell you that there is always fog in the morning, so crossing in the early morning will probably NOT be possible. You may be sitting at ellensburg until it clears, and if it doesn't, a flight south to Vancouver wa. may have to be in your plans with a straight flight north following I-5 with a jocky to the east to go through class b on the outer edge will be in order. You can also fly VFR over the clouds to make it over Snoquami pass, the pass is around 3500ft agl, if you go down to white pass that is around 5500 ft. that one is just west of Yakama, wa. There is stevens pass, that one is around 5500ft as well, that is to the north and runs hiway 2. When doing this trip, I'll have a stack of routes that are about 1/2 inch thick. I have current charts and two gps. I'll run the GPS and the wife follows our progress on the chart. I always run over the top of one of the freeways and have all landing fields plotted with radio freqs and conditions in case a landing is needed. If flying, have fun and make sure you have all kinds of possibilities planed out. -------- kitfoxmike model IV, 1200 speedster 912ul building RV7a slowbuild wings, fuse, finish kit "if you're not getting razzed from pilots or the FAA then you're not flying enough" Do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=121980#121980 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:55:20 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Arlington 2007 From: "kitfoxmike" Woops, Snoquami is 3500 MSL not AGL. -------- kitfoxmike model IV, 1200 speedster 912ul building RV7a slowbuild wings, fuse, finish kit "if you're not getting razzed from pilots or the FAA then you're not flying enough" Do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=121982#121982 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 07:47:26 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Tail Wheel spring tension From: "n85ae" I have a Maule on mine, and when the springs aren't tight it'll shimmy like crazy. Hello Jim, I have a Jabiru 60" by 38" prop on my Jabiru 2200. Why? Because I don't know anything about prop and engines and when I asked my Jabiru dealer he recommended me that one. Of course, it is a wood prop and I have to be careful when it rains. I don't fly much when it rains, anyway, but if caught in a drizzle, keep the RPM under 2 500 and it should be fine. After 230 hours, the prop is still in a near pristine condition. For my Kitfox 3, the prop pitch is maybe a tad too coarse; no great climb performance but an economical cruise RPM. Not a problem for me since I fly from a long asphalt runway. Cheers, Michel Verheughe Norway Kitfox 3 - Jabiru 2200
