Subject: | Re: Question - flap handle Kitfox 2 |
It would be great if the diagram (with dimensions) could be posted somewhere. In
the UK I fly my kitfox 2 on a microlight licence and the flap mod is mandatory,
I have one fitted at the moment but its a real chunky affair. I'd love to
change it for something sleek.
thanks

[quote="GONER752(at)aol.com"]Ray, could you possibly post that diagram to the photo
share, or perhaps sportflight? I also have a Mod.II with the same problem.

MessageYes, they'll hold. Just buy some of the hose and fittings.
Install a fitting in a vise then install the hose. Try to pull it off.
Clamps are optional.

Guy,
What about using the "Barb-Tite" fitting with typical fuel injection
hose? Since everyone recommended the fuel injection hose over the old
H6000, I changed all the hoses to fuel injection hose. But now I wonder
if I can use it with the barb-tite fitting. Would it hold?
Thanks for the help,

I use them extensively, but only as designed. There is an entire
Aeroquip series that is clamp-less. Aeroquip is reputable and I'm
ASSUMING their design is proven, though I didn't prove it myself. I used
this system previously on a Porsche remote oil cooler and in 12 years
never had a fitting failure, though I once had a mid-hose failure. Of
course I replaced the line every few years.
On all other "barbs" I use clamps. (E.g. fuel pump, carburetors.)

I used (liftomat high pressure 752703 0250N 272/99) or equivalent on my S6 with
bubble doors. This part number which I just found in my palm pilot is actually
off of the one Danny Melnick used.

Anyone know an alternative strut than the stock for the 7's bubble doors?
Stock struts way too long since the bubble can't go as high up under the
wing. Also, is the 50lbs stock strut pressure normal? Seems to put a heck of
a lot of strain on the front door hinge.

Another thing that Danny did and I copied was to get flush mount tank drains.

Here is a couple of items I would look at.
1. Spark plugs, get new ones installed.
2. Check each spark plug cap. Look inside, feel the tang engage.( this
was my problem)
3. Ohm check the coils, but swap the inputs side to side to get the
problem to transfer.
4 Then swap outputs. trigger coils etc.
What RPM is he using for his mag ck?

Need some help from the 912 drivers. Got a friend in hanger next door
who has 700 rpm drop on mag A. Mag B is 300 as it should be. He has
checked everything with ohm meter and can find nothing wrong. Has
contacted the factory boys and they haven't been able to help. Any ideas
from you guys?

Subject: | Streamlining material for tail brace and strut brace |
Hello, folks. Been a while since I was on the list. I have been building a
S5 since '95. Took an 8 year break. Anyway, looking to see if some of the
things that were available years ago are still around.
I am looking for the streamlining material for the tail brace and strut
brace. I think they came out with something around '98-'99 that was like
the PVC lift strut material. Also a wing tip landing light(more of a rec
light) kit. And I think someone came up with a speed controller to slow
down the trim motor to run at 1/2 speed. And any feedback on how did/does
that work? Thanks.

Fuel pumps are much better at pushing fuel than pulling fuel. You'd
think they'd be equal at this, but they aren't. Push your hand through a
pool of water. You get a great big wave ahead of your hand - water's
really moving. But behind your hand you get vortices, bubbles, and a big
empty spot.
Any resistance in the suction part of the system is bad news. Pulling
fuel through a filter is not a good idea because the pump is already
working hard enough just getting fuel from the tanks, especially when
the head-pressure is low, or even negative. Also, what happens when
there's the tiniest leak behind the pump? Ever try sucking soda through
a straw that has a tiny hole in it? You're going to go thirsty.

Dee,
Paul's response kindled some memory. The only time I had this problem was
after moving the ignition module to the oil tank mount. I had to lengthed
two of the ignition wires to accommodate the new position.
What I found despite carefully marking both wires, I still ran the wires to
the wrong cylinders, I believe 1 and 3. The rpm drop on run-up was like you
describe.

Subject: | 912 engine mount |
I was wondering if anybody else has run into this problem? I removed an old
912 (1994) off my model IV, I then removed the old engine mount. I then tried
to bolt the top two bars that bolts on the top of the new 912 and the mounts
are 1/8 of an inch short? There is no way that I can even get the bolts to
line up to start them into the block. It seems funny to me , the bottom two
parts of the mount fit into the bottom of the new engine okay? Has anyone else
had this problem?

When I changed out my 912UL to the 912ULS in 1999 the front mounts are about
1/8 inch difference. You have to take the mount and make the correction.

Subject: | [OFF-TOPIC] Signatures |
Awhile back I promised to put together a Wiki on email signature use.
I have been stymied adding pages to Matt's Wiki; (I am talking with
him about the problems;) but managed to edit the "Email signatures"
topic at Wikipedia to include Rex's "About.com" link and a link to
the Thunderbird knowledge base. These two links cover how to do email
signatures for the following software:
AOL, Eudora, Hotmail, Fastmail, Incredimail, Mac OS X mail, Opera,
Outlook, Outlook Express, Pocomail, The Bat!, Yahoo, and Thunderbird.
I'm still working on more Wiki contributions, but unfortunately they
didn't make it very easy. (Any Wikipedia experts, please email me off-line.)
