Aircraft Spruce sells both types. It's a good company to get your parts from. When you buy from them you know what your getting. A good source for master relays is from the RV dealers. Similar relays are used to connect auxiliary batteries. I hear what you're saying Kurt but I'd challenge you to shear off a butt rib from the brackets when secured with regular mandrel standard rivets. You couldn't do it. I'd more think it possible to peel the lexan up off the butt ribs than to shear the butt ribs off as the rivets holding the plastic down are in tension. The beauty of homebuilts is that we all have the right to use our own intelligence to the extent we feel comfortable... I would agree that on this installation you would be ok. The problem arises when the left over rivets get mixed in with other aircraft parts and end up getting used somewhere where they could cause a problem. -----Original Message----- From: owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of flier Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2007 2:54 PM Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Mystery Rivets I hear what you're saying Kurt but I'd challenge you to shear off a butt rib from the brackets when secured with regular mandrel standard rivets. No problem at all Ted, I wasn't trying make it an argument, but to keep us thinking safety first. One of our school trained safety folks here.... We already know of flapperon brackets pulling the rivets thru the ribs too. And it isn't the rivets failing in the canopys either. It is the cap strips pulling free. Make it stronger, not weaker in my opinion. I am just a suspenders and belt guy.... Not inclined to make substitutes in areas because I don't see how they can fail. But I do if I clearly see that I've got plenety of strength and no easy failure mode. Thus light weight wins where strength is plenty. On the other hand, I've added strength in some areas too. Anybody flying one of these on floats with an 80 hp rotax? How's it near gross or hot days? That is with the 29 ft wing as opposed to the 32 ft wing...? -------- No flight is too short!!!! Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=124880#124880

Subject: Question for PocketFMS Users: No longer free?
    From: "wingnut" <wingnut@spamarrest.com>
Finally getting around to reworking the installation of my pda in my airplane (mostly rerouting wires). I went to download the latest PocketFMS and discovered that it's no longer free. Not only is it not free, you can't buy it. It's only available by subscription at 150 euros/year. The current exchange rate makes it better than $200/year. I balked at $500 for mountainscope ages ago though I've always envied the look of their program. I'd rather pay $500 once than $200/year for a subscription though. The other option is Anywhere map. The demo screens always looked a bit ugly to me but at $95, it's tough to beat. Anyone else out there looking to replace PocketFMS now that it's not free? -------- Luis Rodriguez Model IV 1200 Rotax 912UL Flying Weekly Laurens, SC (34A) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=124886#124886
