I'm trying to find a few places in the mid Michigan area that are worthy
of flying to for breakfast, lunch, etc. Preferably airports that have a
cafe/restaurant within a half mile or so of the airport. Anybody have
any input?
Thanks,

I have it installed on my Kitfox 5, but have never completed my fly off time
and I am now installing a Jabiru 3300 engine. Therefore I have never gotten
around to setting it up. The interesting thing is that last month at
Oshkosh I came upon a booth where they were selling the Lift Reserve
Indicator. It is the same unit I have and the company is InAir Instruments
LLC of Westerville, Ohio. The Internet site is www.liftreserve.com. The
owner is Al Mojzisik. I have his business card with all the information,
but I am sure it is available on the Internet site.

Johannes, et al,
How nice to hear from a voice from the past! Everything you mentioned
about Morgan Huntington is very true. When I met him back in the 80's, I
was an engineer in the Cockpit Technology Office at FAA HQ and he was an old
guy with an invention he was trying to sell (by having the FAA mandate that
it be in all aircraft.) The flight standards folks had sent him to me
because they probably did not want to deal with him. Morgan was very nice
and I might add, quite competent. We went to Lee Airport in Annapolis where
he had a Cessna 150 equipped with his device. We took off and he kept that
mush indicator, as he called it, right on the hairy edge of a stall. That
old 150 must have had a 20+degree deck angle and was climbing right on out.
When we got to a couple of thousand feet he let that needle get in the red
and the wing stalled as advertised. Lower the nose and keep the needle out
of the red and she flew right out and continued to climb. Okay, his device
worked. But, the FAA was never going to mandate it. I sent Morgan to some
friends I had at NASA's at Langley Research Center. Bottom line, they put
on an old 737 and sure enough, it worked there to. That was pretty much all
I ever heard about the LRI until about 10 years ago at Oshkosh. Seems
Morgan had passed, but his family, I believe it was a son, continued selling
the device, but ran into a legal issue with another fellow selling the same
product under a different name. They were in competition, but I never did
hear the results of the legal fray. When I told Morgan's son about my
experience with his Dad, he was really moved. He gave me a system and I
have it installed in my Kitfox. Now,if I can just finish building the
plane, I can find out if it works on the very sophisticated Kitfox V.

You can buy the 72" patriot. But, cut it down to, well mine is at 69" at the moment.
I bought it at 70" and cut it down a little more, but didn't notice any
difference so I kept it at 69". I like the number 69... oh stop it steve.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand, great prop, wouldn't fly without it, you'll
love it.

I have the one from Morgan, but I also have the electronic display version.
You can see them at LRIAOA.COM I'm not sure what the price is.
When are you ever going to finish that plane?
Good question. I hope it will fly at end of September.
How are you doing? Where are you now?

Eric,
We are an IVO dealer and can help.. Youll love the prop but the
72 on the UL is a little much. There are also 2 different style of blades
and that will effect the length as well.

Hey, y'all, if you want to spend $450 for one of these things, you can. But
if you want to spend $175 plus shipping, contact Kelly Meiste. It is the
same thing.

Old Morgan Huntington had a great idea. It is too bad that he was not able
to gain better acceptance of his great instrument. Actually it gives about
the same info as the AOA instruments on all military and commercial planes.
GA is slow to catch on. I like this design because it requires no
electrical power (less to go wrong!) and If you lose your airspeed
indicator, you can fly fine with just this. It is a great instrument and
can give you great confidence in turns etc. The great thing is it still
works no matter what your loading, bank angle etc is.

Here is my write up with my new Ivo last year...
http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?t=17756
My initial numbers are about 200'/min high on the rate of climb and about 5mph
too fast but there was a good performance gain over the GSC. I have the 70" 3-blade
ultralight IvoProp and would not cut it down...I love the static thrust
and am not worried about a few more mph.
