I have a NSI CAP 140 prop on mine. Does anyone know where to find the
serial number on one of these critters. I've searched through all the
paperwork the builder gave me and can't locate the serial number on the
prop, or in the paperwork. It sure would be nice if folks that build
homebuilts listed such things in the logbooks, just in case they decide to
sell at sometime.

Dear Listers,
Today 9/8/2007 I have added a new real-time spell checker function to all of the
BBS Forums at Matronics. When you reply or create a new message on the Forums,
you will notice that misspelled words will be high-lighted in yellow. If
you left-click on the word, you will be prompted with a drop-down list of suggested
spellings.

Enjoy!

I'm installing my 912 in a KF IV and have a question that seems really
dumb, but I can't find an answer in anything I've read.
What is the proper way to pass things like wires, hoses, and tubing
through the firewall? Is it through simple rubber grommets, or is there
a special fitting used?
thanks,

John,
The number of the blades should be seen on a sticker near the hub end, the
hub it self you have to pull the hub. It is written in the hub at the
surface.
And yes it should be listed in the logs, in fact as a cap it should have a
log itself. How many hours do you have on the plane?

582 - 18 to 21 litres per hour at about 6000 rpm is what i get
5600 rpm you might see 16 to 17 litres per hour
this is with stock Bing 54 carbs and stock needles with needle clips on 3rd notch
from the top which I use this time of year.
In winter i will drop the clip one notch which raises the needle and will increase
your fuel burn by 10 - 15% to 20 to 23.5 litres/ hour.
My EGts run in summer 1100 or so and in winter 1150 to 1200 and plugs loks great.
I pitch prop for 6800 wide open straight and level and depending on prop the static
could be 5900 (warp) , 6200 (gsc) to 6500 ( ivo ) plis a few inflight
props i have will more adjustment.
Hope this helps ,

It seems to me the firewall must remain intact. If there were a fire, it
could pass thru a plain rubber or plastic grommet. I used the Kitfox firewall
blanket first then inserted a stainless steel eyeball for most pass thru's.
For the rubber and plastic pass thru's I covered them all with high temp RTV.
It may not keep all the fire out, but it would hopefully keep it to a
minimum.

You should keep your firewall integrity at all times and use hardware
that
will help you maintain it.
Check out Aircraft spruce for fire wall blankest and stainless steel
firewall shields. Try the link bellow. Also talk to the local EAA
chapter
and see if they have any technical advisers.

Special fitting is required. Never use rubber.
As with all things electrical check out the archives of the
aeroelectric list on matronics. This subject has been beat to death.
Another resource are the Bingillis how to do books which are sold by EAA.

I have to speak up here and give my opinion. I was in the shoes of the
poor soul that should "god forgive me" ask the "Beat to death" question.
So I did not ask a lot of questions. Wish I did anyway. Would have saved
me a lot. Here is a hint for those wanting to build and those building
that are lurking in the group. Go ahead and ask. We are not that busy
that if it is asked a 1000 times, we won't answer. I will still answer
it, and there are a lot of good people here that do not mind going over
it again. How about school? New students, same questions. Not a problem.
Do not let our completed projects elevate us to a higher level. So ask,
no matter how simple or complex. Questions keep the mind alive, and the
group.
