Okay, I am jealous of you guys, over the big pond, who manage to have spendid Kitfox fly-ins. I was to fly to Germany last week-end but weather prevented me to do so. Instead, I decided to go and visit Geir-Olav who has just posted on this list his new Kitfox with Jabiru. We live only one hour away from each other, he on the north side of Oslo and me, on the south side. So I went to see him on Sunday and had the pleasure to fly his model 4 with shorter wings than my model 3. Same engine, same performance but ... he flies faster than me. Not a surprise, really, his Vne is 20 MPH higher than mine. Geir-Olav still needs a few hours with his instructor and then ... we will fly together to Sweden and visit Lars-Goran who hosts the European Kitfox site. Here is a photo of our two Kitfoxes, on a nice Sunday morning, somewhere in the Norwegian countryside. http://home.online.no/~michel/tmp/TwoFoxes.jpg I also include a photo of Oslo, the capital of Norway. As you can see, it is a very small town and the inhabitants don't have to go very long to find nature; it is virtually at their doorstep. Also notice (red arrow) the Holmenkollen ski jumping ramp. It was erected for the Olympics of 1952 and has since become a visual landmark and a symbol for the town. http://home.online.no/~michel/tmp/Oslo.jpg Cheers, Michel Verheughe Norway Kitfox 3 - Jabiru 2200 do not archive

I looked in the manual and it does not address that subject. What I used was a rubber grommet and a stainless steel firewall shield which I got from Aircraft Spuce. They also sell nylon bulkhead seals for the same purpose. In the 2006-2007 catalog pages 135-294 and 436 you should find what you need Barry West <barry@pgtc.com> wrote: Harold, I think your idea of referring to FAA AC 43.13-1b is good but I just reviewed my copy and could not find information on feeding through the firewall. Hey all, Sport Aviation Dec 2006 had a good article on firewall penetrations. They did some great flame testing to prove out what worked best to keep the fire and fumes on the engine side of the firewall. Anyone ever seen any creative designs that would work on a 65HP Cub type homebuilt. I have seen some dolly implementations, and I have witnessed planes being launched from trailers pulled by a car or pickup truck...but I was wondering if anyone has come across a partial anphib solution. Something like removable wheels that could be taken off when someone lands at a strip that has ramp access to water. The issue is getting the plane up to float country, then back to the home base...which is on terra firma. My buddy has straight floats for his Piper Cub, has a cottage up North, but is based at an uncontrolled airport with paved runways. Anyone come across something that would convert straight to partially amphibious? I expect the answer is go quality or go home...but it never hurts to ask. I understand the blue Tygon works well with autogas also but I used white Nylon tubing which is also hard to see through. My gage has horizontal lines at each gallon mark and because the tube is at an angle these lines are clearly visible perpendicular to the tube if there is fuel in the tube and stay parallel to the airplane if there is no fuel there. It really is easy to read to the next lower gallon mark. The material seems to resist attack from the gas. One of the orginal tubes, a brittle material, problably polycarbonate, turned dark and cracked after about 4 years. I was taking off from Oshkosh when gasoline started pouring out of the right wing all down the side of the airplane. I called the tower and they cleared me right in, went to the EAA maintenance area, replaced the tube with some Tygon and got back in the air within an hour or so. My wife was not happy! The entire FAA Advisory Circular library, with all current changes, is available on line at: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/Ma inFrame?OpenFrameSet Just select how you would like them displayed from the links on the left side of the page. For example, clicking on "Current ACs" presents sub-list that has: By Number By Date By FAR, CAR, SFAR Part Clicking on "By Number" presents the ACs in numerical order. This link will display the list numerically: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular. nsf/MainFrame?OpenFrameSet There are several pages to the list. Clicking either "Next" at the top of the list, or "MORE" at the bottom will take you to the next page of the list. Each AC can be saved to your hard drive, put on a CD or any other way you would like to save them for reference without internet connection. The following came to me last night from Ray who lives in Hillsboro and has a Mustang II. This is a small grass field airport with about ten planes based there. Phil in Litchfield ................................. I am writing to ask you to help us keep the Hillsboro Airport (3K4) open. The city council has in the space of a few days announced that they agreed to negotiate the sale of the airport property to a coal company, and that they will take action on the sale at Tuesday's council meeting at 7:00 pm, all with no discussion with the Airport Board, the hangar renters/aircraft owners on the field, or the public. Please take a couple of minutes to go to this link to the local newspaper site and vote anonymously in their online poll..... http://www.thejournal-news.net/news/ scroll down near the bottom, left side of page. Please vote NO only once, but feel free to forward this to any other aviation fans you know. We may not be successful, but I would like them to HEAR US. Maybe we can lock up the website........ Thanks for your support. Ray Dorf, Hillsboro Airport Board member Sorry about the short notice, I just learned about the poll a short time ago.

I finally got the cooling problem fixed. That caused some aerodynamic balance problems. I am going to have to redesign the cooling system radiator locations or find some different powerplant. To bad, the cowlings turned out very nice. The family is fine and we are still RC racing like we had nothing else to do. Albert Smith 5TD NSI turbo CAP

    Subject: Update on Lowell Fitt
Hi all, I received an e-mail from Lowell Fitt tonight and he asked that I pass along the latest news. Lowell was released from the hospital this morning. Both he and Kay are doing well and the doctors do not expect any permanent impact on their health. Due to his back injury, he's limited to 30 minutes at a time in a chair so responses to any posts will come slowly if at all. Lowell has two compression fractures in the last thoracic and first lumbar vertebrae, a fairly badly sprained ankle and a cut thumb. He'll have to wear a back brace for three months, a couple of weeks of which have already passed. The brace provides considerable mobility while limiting his ability to further damage his spine. Kay has a fracture in her cervical area and is wearing a collar. She also has a puncture wound in her leg that left metal fragments against the bone and a broken thumb. As has been reported by others, Lowell said that it was a precautionary landing initiated because of a drop to zero oil pressure. By all accounts, it was a successful one. He and Kay exited the airplane on their own, there was no fire, and emergency personnel were on scene in minutes. Mike G., Kitfox List Moderator N728KF Phoenix, AZ
