Hot exactly kitfox fodder...but I thought it was interesting. An AME at
the airport recently put his J3 on straight floats and used a utility
trailer pulled by a pickup truck to launch it. I have seen this done with
a Stinson 108 too. Me...I prefer the anphibs.

1) I believe the Rotax 912uls was built in 2005. It's new and has never been started.
When I bought the complete, but unfinished Kitfox 7 the man said I had
to take motor and everything else he wanted gone, the only problem is I'm still
not to pleased with his wife. Two items not included with the sale are the
oil tank and radiator. Included; complete 912uls, carb heat air intake box, all
attached electrical components, Rotax high performance exhaust system, Rotax
engine ring mount, throtlle cable with split feeds, choke cable kit and other
odd and ends I need to dig through the boxes for.
2) New 70" carbon fiber 3 blade warp drive prop with spinner and the protractor
to adjust blade angles.
Whats a fair asking price and or / offer.

Subject: | J3 Launch from Trailer (off topic) |
When I was a kid in St. John's. all the float planes were towed on a
dolly
to the end of the runway. the wheels were pegged straight and the plane
was
released to roll down the runway under it's own power. The plane had to
be
jerked off the dolly as the brakes were set to dynamite as soon as the
load
was removed form the dolly. One of the local pilots used to take off
around
a half a dozen planes that way in an afternoon.
While he was ferrying the planes to Octagon pond the rest of the gang
would
hook up the dolly, tow it back to the hangar and lift the next plane
aboard
using the overhead crane. By the time the pilot got back to the
airport, by
taxi the next plane would be waiting for him. The only plane in the
hangar
that didn't use this system was CF-MPZ which at that time was a DHC-2
used
by the Mounties I think it had Amphibs. I've checked the registration
a
few times in the past few years and it is now used by a Bell 212 owned
by a
company in B.C..
In the fall of the year at that time the fire fighting unit had to purge
their tanks. S o they used to spray down the grass on the side of the
active with foam and everyone would land in the foam. It only took
about a
fifteen minute separation to allow time for a small crane to load the
planes
on the dolly and transport it to the hangar where it would be unloaded
so
the dolly could be used by the next plane. Usually all the planes were
landed within a couple of hours great stuff that foam sits on top of the
long grass for hours.
I doubt they would let you try it today.

I'm interested in the prop if it includes the hub, blades and spinner. What
is the thickness of the hub from front to back side?

Talked to the Days Inn. According to the desk, they've been full for the past three
weekends so I guess anyone that is planning on staying at a hotel needs to
make reservations. Here's the price breakdown:
Single, King Bead, Ocean View : $135
Single, King Bead, Street View : $105
Two Double Beads, Street View: $99

Subject: | Re: Exhaust parts 582 |
Further more to my last post on 582 exhaust mods.
I looked closer at that Elbow today that I modified and it looks like it was just
a Elbow that was hand made rather than a Rotax Elbow. It you look at the pic
you will see the Rotax radius is not as tight as this one. I will likely
have to play around a bit more now and see what else can be had.
Has anyone else tried this yet ? I figure that I am still short from Rotax specs.

Jareds,
I run my 582 at the 3rd notch on stock needles spring till fall. Once temps get
to freezing area I will lower clip to bottom notch.
Member , your EGT reading is just a indication of what is going on in exhaust but
your plugs will tell the true tale. EGts are great and usefull but not necessary
calibrated all the same.

Subject: | Re: IVO prop blades for sale |
Clint and John,
Thank you for your replies on the prop, that end of my project has been
stalled looking for a prop, I purchased a GSC from another 912ul Kitfox
upgrade but the hub did not fit my engine. I have attached a pic of my
engine hub, bolt circle approx 4", bolt holes are for 5/16 bolts, bolt
hole bosses are .510 OD and center boss 1.850 OD. Can anyone tell me
what I need to fit this??

If you use the UL blades on 912ULS they should be 72 inches.
I had 68 inch on 912ULS and they were a little short.
