For those of us looking to build, I would love to see a section devoted to completed
kits and panels, more than just the few Kitfox has on their site. This would
provide inspiration and motivation to get/keep us going. :)

Anyone on East Coast building or own a Super Sport? I would like to see one in

      and Fun.

Me too! By the way, I spoke to the John and Debra a couple of weeks back and they
won't be going to Sun 'n Fun. They said it's just a logistical nightmare for
them. I'm going to do the next best thing and am going to see them in about
      2 weeks.

| Subject: | New bush tires available |

I went to the Light Sport expo in Sebring and to the Alaska Bush tire booth.
Among all their monster tires they are coming out with one that might suit
our airplanes. It is being built for LSA. It is 21" tall ,800 x 6 and weighs 12

lbs.It is tubeless with the valve stem embedded in the side of the side wall
(like their other tires) They are still developing the molds to produce it but

he said it should be available in a few months. It is a very nice 4 or 6 ply
tire (can't remember which) and of course, slick with no treads. It is a little

heavy (12 lbs vs 9 1/2 for some others) but it eliminates all the valve stem
shearing, etc of tubes and is very substantial. I am sure it will be pricey.
If it is not too bad, I will be buying it.

If your planning to visit John and Debra at the factory, I would suggest
you call the Hampton Inn motel in Nampa, Idaho. They are only a few
miles drive to Kitfox hanger from where you could stay. Accommodations
are good too. Just a thought.

      Hi Mark:

What do you mean by East Coast? I live about an hour and a half west
of DC - in PA near Hagerstown, MD. I'm building a Series 7 - nearly
same thing as Super Sport. It's not nearly complete. I'm working of
fuselage now. I have quick build wings. You are welcome if you want
to see what the kit components look like - and review some of the
construction steps involved. I have spent about 120 hrs in the
      building process so far

| Subject: | Engine for KitFox Lite project? |

      To the KitFox list :

EAA Chapter 309 in Charlotte, NC has received a donation of a partially
completed Kit Fox Lite project. The wings, control surfaces and fuselage
are complete but no further assembly has been done. The project was
originally bought in April 2003 and the buyer never received the
      promised 2Si engine.

I would like to know what other builders would recommend for choice of
engine. We understand that most engines will put the weight outside the
ultralight category but I assume that this is not a big problem.

      Thanks for your help.

      Cheers, John Wigney

      Dick,

I was on their website yesterday and they are showing 3 new tires specifically
for the LSA market. They are a 26"x12"x6" as well as a larger 29"x12"x6". They
say that they are coming out with a 8.50x6 also...this is probably the one
you are talking about. I would like to know the weights on the 26" tires as these
are the size that interest me. The cost leaves a lot to be desired...$2000!

| Subject: | Wanted - Kitfox fuel tanks |

       Hi all,
I am looking for used wing tanks for a MK2 KF. I only have a header tank
and now that my wings are open for a recover, I would like to up the fuel
load. I considered the tanks from wing tanks.com but it is an expensive
experiment and the seller is a bit difficult to deal with (no direct contact
info and very little info available). They may be great tanks but I can not
verify. At more than 1G for the tanks I would expect to see a speck sheet.
Anyone that has tanks for sale or knows where I can purchase new or used
ones, please drop me a line.
      Thanks

Hi John, I would think that a Rotax 377 / 35 hp would be a good engine for the
plane, about as light an engine one could find of course there are no new ones
available. I guess there could be maybe someone has one tucked away in storage

I am in New Bern, North Carolina and am willing to make a long weekend driving
trip to make sure I am making the right choice, but talking with people will help
      me as well.

I have a friend that has a Kitfox IV speedster. I like what I see and I can fit
into it. I am a A&P and I want a project of my own. I believe a new Super

| Subject: | Re: Tru-Trak Autopilot in S5/Vixen |

I have completed the install of the autopilot. No major headaches or fabrication
needed. However....I so apologize!!!! When we finished everything it was
a cold rainy day (our hanger is open on two sides). After we cleaned up all the
tools, etc. Kathy pulled out the camera, and after that...dead battery warning!
We did not take ANY pictures. Since I had the help, we put the plane back
together and flew it the next day.

We made a few control adjustments while in flight (changing the torque and movement
speeds of the servos). This is done at the control head and is actually
quite easy to do. We locked on altitude at 2,000' and it did not change by more
than 10' up or down. It also held us on course and making directional changes
are easy. We took it down to 800' because it was really turbulent at that
altitude. Altitude +/- 20 and it held the course heading. We had to increase
the lateral adjustment (how fast the servo responds and moves). After that it
did a fantastic job of keeping the wings level even though it was a rough ride.
At present...I have no complaints about the ADI Pilot II. I'm just glad
      it is installed...and I'm thrilled.

The main servo is mounted on the left side of the fuselage behind the seat, attached
with Adell clamps to the two V shaped tubes. The elevator servo is also
behind the seat just above the push/pull tubs. It is also mounted to the structural
tubes in that location. The pushrod is attached the elevator pushrod
      under the seat.

When we pull the plane down for it's next 100 hour inspection I will take lots
of pictures with printed detail and post them. I really feel bad that i was unable
to take the pictures...but I had help and didn't want to delay the test
      flight.

If you have any specific questions, please ask!

Did anybody go to the Oshkosh (actually Pioneer Field) Skiplane Fly-
      in today?
I was registered to go, but less-than-desirable weather conditions
between lower-Lower Michigan, around Chicago, and on up to Osh kept
me wisely at home. When I called for conditions this morning, they
warned of icing on their vehicle's windshield driving in...that
sealed it for me. I had intended to leave yesterday, but the weather
      "vibes" just weren't right.
I'd like to hear a plane count if anybody attended.

I would guess that a good 447 would be easy to find and it weighs the same
as the 377. A friend had a 377 in his Kolb and I had a 447 in my Himax.
The 377 burned less fuel, but also had a bit less power. If they want more
power that that, a 503 should work also, but again with more fuel burn. I
t does have duel ignition though and is regaurded as one of the most relia
ble Rotax 2 strokes. Plenty of options available. Jim Chuk, Avid Mk IV

| Subject: | Wanted - Kitfox fuel tanks |

Len, There is a mod 4 KF on Barnstormers. It is a project fusalage. The win
gs were destroyed in a forced landing. The add reads Wing" hardware include
d". Its in Florida. I don't know if those tanks fit your model. It might be
worth a try if they fit. He might sell the tanks.

       Hi all,
I am looking for used wing tanks for a MK2 KF. I only have a header tank
and now that my wings are open for a recover, I would like to up the fuel l
oad. I considered the tanks from wing tanks.com but it is an expensive exp
eriment and the seller is a bit difficult to deal with (no direct contact i
nfo and very little info available). They may be great tanks but I can not
verify. At more than 1G for the tanks I would expect to see a speck sheet
. Anyone that has tanks for sale or knows where I can purchase new or used
ones, please drop me a line.
      Thanks

      Travis,

I'm planning to install a Tru-trak ADI-II right out the chute when I
build my Kitfox. I would really appreciate any pics that you have of
      the install.

needed. However....I so apologize!!!! When we finished everything it was
a cold rainy day (our hanger is open on two sides). After we cleaned up all
the tools, etc. Kathy pulled out the camera, and after that...dead battery warning!
We did not take ANY pictures. Since I had the help, we put the plane
back together and flew it the next day.

      > We made a few control adjustments while in flight (changing the torque and movement
speeds of the servos). This is done at the control head and is actually
quite easy to do. We locked on altitude at 2,000' and it did not change by
more than 10' up or down. It also held us on course and making directional changes
are easy. We took it down to 800' because it was really turbulent at that
altitude. Altitude +/- 20 and it held the course heading. We had to increase
the lateral adjustment (how fast the servo responds and moves). After that
it did a fantastic job of keeping the wings level even though it was a rough
ride. At present...I have no complaints about the ADI Pilot II. I'm just glad
      it is installed...and I'm thrilled.

behind the seat just above the push/pull tubs. It is also mounted to the structural
tubes in that location. The pushrod is attached the elevator pushrod
      under the seat.

      flight.

Thanks, Pat. When I checked the NOAA weather for Oshkosh, sometime
this morning, they showed 3/4 mile visibility, and that alone would
have kept me from getting in there. Guess I made the right decision
      to stay here.
