A number of gyro guys have done smoke systems with 503 and 582 with no problem. The main trick it to meter the Corvus Oil so that you get just enough to give good smoke and not too much so that it cools the exhaust. I've got drawings of a good system back at home and will send them next week when I get back. You'll want to acquire Corvus Oil 13. It runs about $2.00 a gallon. It's non-toxic and designed for use with aircraft. John Alexander On Wed, 30 Jan 2008 01:28:23 -0800, robfras wrote > > Has anyone had any experience making smoke [for skywriting] with a > 582 rotax. On the surface that sounds a bit silly... but remember the Quickie Q200?? Landing gear was in the wingtips. A small wheel canted at the right angle could save a lot of heartbreak on paved runways... Consider them training wheels for crosswinds. Won't help with my floats though :-) Noel -----Original Message----- From: owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Guy Buchanan Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2008 3:09 AM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Turn Down Tips? It's a great place to install roller-blade wheels for those extreme cross-wind landings, and for when you just can't seem to keep it straight. ;-) Guy Buchanan San Diego, CA K-IV 1200 / 582-C / Warp / 100% done, thanks mostly to Bob Ducar. Charles, I used to "burp" mine. First, to avoid overflow you don't want the reservoir to be completely full. Just grab the large hose that exits the reservoir and give it a quick squeeze. You should hear bubbles come out. Keep doing this over and over until you no longer hear any bubbling. That should take care of it. Rex, I'm hoping that since I'm starting with the IV-1200, which I think was designed for this (or the 912) engine, I won't have the same level of adjustment that you did with the III. I guess I'm going to find out. I do have another lexan windshield blank lying around so if need be I won't have to buy that. The cowling thing really does worry me though since I am seriously inept with Fiberglas. Pat, I'm pretty sure I'll have to get a mount specific to the IV but I'll definitely keep you in mind in case I don't. Thanks. The cowl had to go unfortunately. So did my windshield and pretty much everything firwall forward. It was well worth it all though. Looking for the plastic covers to buy does anyone have some they want to sell and how heavy are they? I was thinking of bending some out of coil stock. Are they better round on the front or sharp like the extruded ones? -------- Lee in Md. 2002 KitFox-IV Classic/912UL/Warp/100% Complete (just adding the Extras now) /66 hours time on plane since Aug 07 "Have your feet on the Pedals and keep reaching for the sky". Subject: Replace Needle?
All 582 drivers, past and present, I'm doing my 150 hour check and the book says I should change the needles and needle jets. Should I? Or does this date back to the days before the needle O-rings? Do these wear out from vibration? Anything else I should change out at 150 hours? Thanks, Guy Buchanan San Diego, CA K-IV 1200 / 582-C / Warp / 100% done, thanks mostly to Bob Ducar.

Strut fairings , airfoil shaped jury struts, Airfoil covers for Horizontal stab support braces. I have been looking at other planes out there and am thinking that I could clean up the hole that my plane punches in the air. So if no one has any of the above parts to sell I will have to make my own. I was thinking I might make some covers that that are like the ones on the 172's where the struts attach. -------- Lee in Md. 2002 KitFox-IV Classic/912UL/Warp/100% Complete (just adding the Extras now) /66 hours time on plane since Aug 07 "Have your feet on the Pedals and keep reaching for the sky".
