Due to rust popping through the old paint on a project I just picked
up, I'm going to strip the fabric, and start from scratch. I
just stopped by a local paint store, and they offer a 2-part epoxy
primer: Transtar 2K epoxy. Does anyone have any opionion one way
or the other on using this product? I will be using the stits poly
process for covering - I'm already familiar with it, and have quite
a bit of extra left over from a previous project.
Thanks,
-Jack

I'd purchased a set of the 8" wheels a while back (one of mine
was dented by a wild tire-changer) and they came complete with
hubs, brake discs (drilled) and calipers. If anyone can use
the hubs, brake discs and calipers (the wheels are now gone),
let me know, and they're yours. I *think* they were for the original gear.

Jack, I would want to make sure it is compatible with the Poly Fiber materials
before using it. Thats a lot of work, not to mention the expense, if there may
be adhesion problems down the road.

Jack, Opinion only since I have no experience with the brand you are talkin
g about, but I used a 2 part automotive primeer to prime bare spots on my f
rame. It appears that almost any 2 part epoxy primer is impervious to MEK b
ased paint. I have glued over the 2 part I used successfully.

Subject: | Re: Landing LightLanding Light |
Here is a shot when we went on a little trip. The Kunzelman Streamline TRIPLE MAGNUM 3 light SYM Strobes (http://www.kestrobes.com/) are out of focus but you can see a good shot on there web site. They are produced near my hanger in PA. The company is family owned and have GREAT customer service. The instructions are clear, easy to understand and with the provided parts and a little sanding are a breeze.
Now the Best part they are VERY bright and if you buy the strobe all in one
unit the running lights are red and green have a clear LED in the back that is
white. They must be the super bright LED type. The Strobes are poured into a
silicone shock gel that should keep them from failing due to shock or vibration.
Did I mention they draw 1/3 of a AMP.
Attached is todays photos of the Kunzelman's on my Kitfox IV 1200 Classic hope
this helps.
Also included is a photo of Ray Gignac's wing tip landing Lights.
I also attached to a photo of the landing light mounted in the cowl behind the
prop. I only see one problem vibration is going to kill the bulb. It also might
be a little shakey if you fly off grass.
Keep your feet on the peddels and keep reaching for the sky!!!!

Is there Zinc chromate in that epoxy? With 4130 I'd stick to something with
zinc chromate in it.
