Clint ic of Broken IVO Re: Kitfox-List: Re: CGS Prop blades LooseTo: kitfox-list@ matronics.com http://forums.matronics.com//files/broken_ivo_917.jpgDave, Thanks for the Picture of The broken 3 bladed IVO Prop above. IVOs are not as tough as I thought. In the IVO instructions it says not to use a three b laded prop with a certain redrive combo. I bought a model II that had this forbidden combo. I saw excessive wear on the RK400 clutch and belived it wa s due to the 3 blade and the Redrive combo. I'm just checking to see if the quote I got seems to be in line with what others are paying. I am able to prove about 450 hours of flight time (lost one log book somewhere along the way) about 80 of which is tail-wheel time. 55 hours of the tail-wheel time is in an AVID which is what I am building (with a STRATUS EA-81 engine). The quote I received is from Falcon Ins. through EAA. The quote is $1740.00 annually. That would give me $32,000 on the hull and $1mil liability. If I choose liability only the quote is $650.00. Builder's risk, which I think I need now, is $400.00 annually. This policy will cover first flight with no requirement for dual due to the time I have in make/model. Do these figures seem to be in line with what you are paying? I appreciate your comments. Thanks. What are the pros and cons of each (aside from the cost)? Seems like about 50% of guys like the Maule tailwheel and the other 50% say it has serious shimmy problems and that this is not the case with the Scott. What about the Matco setup? My last Kitfox had a Maule setup and I must admit, I did have a couple problems with shimmy on landings...nothing major but shimmy none the less. Do the others not shimmy at all or just less? -------- Darin Hawkes Series 7 (Painting) 914 Turbo Kaysville, Utah Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=175790#175790 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 03:56:00 PM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Insurance Inquiry From: "LarryM" Andy, I have an independent agent who may be able to beat that. Never had any problem with them. The next thing you will want is a major head rework to include stainless valves. I also had Swain do a heat coating and stem coating on the valves.
