Quote from Guy Buchanan " What an incredible image. I think you should consider sending that one in to EAA. You'll win their monthly photo contest for sure" Great idea but I can't take credit for that picture. While I'm deployed a bud of mine is keeping her in his hangar and flying her to keep the engine and airframe from wasting away in storage. As you can see, he got the better end of the deal. -------- Dave Speedster 912 UL Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=181464#181464

Anyone have experience with Stewart System Products for covering your KF or Avid. It is water based, therefore less fumes and no solvents or fire hazards.I am researching methods. Hype by the manufacturer as cheaper, faster , lighter, safer than Stitts method.I was considering Hipec, probably easiest, strong without tape or wing stitching but very toxic ie isocyanates.Any experience appreciated. Thanks, Harry Cieslar, Avid Magnum builder, Goderich ,Ontario

I'm painting my CH801 with System Three's Waterborne products, which are similar BUT WAY cheaper. The drawback, they probably won't work on Fabric (WR-LPU that is). However it is possible they might. Having been an Aerothane junky in the past, I have had many frustrating experiences with the waterborne pain(t). In many ways it is nice, since it is basically not going to kill you. The bad part is it is touchy to spray well, too little and it dries instantly and sandy. Too much and it run's easily, or if it doesn't run tends to develop what I call "foam". Basically where air from the gun embeds in the paint and doesn't flow out. Since my wife won't let me use Aerothane anymore I live with the waterborne stuff. By the way System Three polyurethane is 50% the cost of AFS Regards, Jeff Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=181521#181521

Hi Deke- This was taken at Napoleon Airport (3NP) just a few miles from my (rented) field. My build.....from 10% done when I bought it......took me 19 months, Jabiru 2200, got the Airworthiness Certificate in March 2006, and I soloed in it in June 2006, after I had the 40 hrs flown off for me, and then got 2-1/2 months of instruction in it. Trained over very shallow water at very high speed to get used to the feel of the water on the tires. It is actually just like concrete at about 65mph. When you get slow the tires will sink and try to pitch pole you. This water is about two inches deep. Hi Guy, Yes, I water ski the plane but when landing try to stay off the water until it is shallow enough that droping through will not be a problem. That is because the landing speed is much slower than the tire planing speed. Your little tiny tires would be more of a problem. You would need very smooth and shallow water to get started at it. Think parking lot with a shimmer of water on it. Pete~ Thanks for the generous offer, and I'll be happy to take you up on it. I wish I could just change my landing gear out for grove gear but that'll have to be a few years in the future. Just let me know the ship ping cost and address and I'll send a check. Are you sure you don't wan t to come up here to Alaska to help me change the bungees? Subject: STEWART SYSTEM
Harry, I'm using the STEWART SYSTEM on my AVID and I love it so far. There are at least three others on the field I'm on that have covered with other brands and they have said they will use STEWART Systems on their next project. In fact two of the three are now covering new projects and are using the STEWART SYSTEM. There are practically no odors in the glue and it is MUCH easier to use than STITS. I had a little trouble getting the spray gun (and me)tuned, but things are turning out good so far. I've painted several small pieces and plan to start on the fuselage and wings in the next couple of weeks if all goes well. I went with STEWART SYSTEMS mainly because it is a non-toxic system. I hung around their booth at OSH last year and was sold on the product. Their instructional videos will certainly give you enough knowledge to do a good job covering and painting with their SYSTEM. If you have any more specific questions please feel free to e-mail direct and I'll give you my phone number if you wish. If I were to start another project tomorrow I would certainly choose the same system agian.
