Good to hear you've resettled in Aussieland, Gary. Not many Norwegian photos lately,
I haven't yet started long distance flying but this week-end, I'll ferry
a Zephyr ultralight from Czechia to Norway. Mind you, that bird flies about twice
as fast as my model 3 so the photos will maybe be a bit blurry ... :-)

Subject: | Painting the inside of the cowl |
Hello
I have a Model IV Speedster and want to seal the fiberglass weave inside
the cowl. I'm getting close to finishing my kit and almost ready for
paint.
Can anyone recommend a product that will be thick enough to seal it so
it can be wiped clean. I've been told there is a product available that
is water based that can be used. One concern I have using an oil based
product is the durability if fuel is leaked onto it.

Subject: | 912 Engine Cases Needed |
I am looking for a pair of Rotax 912 engine cases that are JUNK. I need them for
a mock-up. They can be crashed, cracked or what ever. The only part that needs
to be there is all the mounting bosses on the bottom and the rear of the cases.
80HP, 100HP or 914 for that matter, it doesnt matter to me. I can be reached

Chris,
Thanks for the kind words! [Embarassed] Welcome to the Kitfox family! I did
note that you appeared to be right at home behind the Vixen stick...not timid
at all!
There are some great folks on this forum and their Kitfox knowledge goes WAY beyond
mine. Good luck with the building project and keep us informed!
...Glad you enjoyed the flight!

Gary,
If I remember correctly you had a 582 in a Lite squared. I see you now have a
Jaberau. I currently have a 503 Rotax in my classic 4 and am always on the lookout
for ideas on an engine to upgrade to.
I would be interested in hearing your results and a comparison of the jaberau to
the Rotax you had before.

Great to hear from you Michel - one thing about that jabiru motor: When I
was in Canada flying at -20 deg the temps in flight were perfect, when I
returned to Aus and started flying at +40C I still found the temps were
fine. Strange as I though I would have to do some additional ducting work.

Hello Tom,
yes I sold my last plane in Canada as I actually expected to return to
Australia about a year earlier. About a week after I sold it I found I had
another 18 mths before returning so I immediately started looking for
another Kitfox. I have been really impressed with the Jabiru 2200 as it is
very quiet, great on fuel and powerful. In climb performance it's not much
better than the 582 due to the small diameter wooden prop but in cruise
it is quite fast and very economical.
The service available from Jabiru in Australia is amazing as I have a
friend here in Adelaide who is a factory trained and authorized jab
mechanic - he knows the engine inside out and has been able to answer
every query I ever had. This was a little different in Canada where I
basically had to solve my own problems.
All in all I'm very happy with it
Some specs:
Classic 4 MT Wt 650lb
Jab 2200 80Hp
Norm Climb Just me at (180lb) and 75ltrs fuel (+30Deg C)
700 - 800ft/m
Cruise 2700 RPM 94 mph
Fuel Burn @ cruise 13 L/Hr
Sound Great!
Regards
Gary

Thanks Gary, this helps. The Jaberau is high on my short list of engines for my
kitfox.

Hi Tom, I am in Lewiston and Have a Fox and a brand new Jab engine,
mount and prop if you decide to change. They are awesome, more like a
standard aircraft engine. I was going to install in mine but due to
recent surgery I am getting out of flying. If you are interested
contact me at vcmi60@tds.net . The engine is still in the box. Jerry
