After flying N8188F for almost 11 years I am parting it out due to landing
in trees Friday 9/5/08. I have discovered the engine failure was due to deb
ris in the fuel inlet port of the front carburetor starving the float bowl
of fuel. The rear cylinder of the 582 blue head was running but couldn't pu
ll the dead cylinder too.=0A=0AI have recovered the aircraft from the trees
and have it back in my hangar. Many parts are serviceable as is like the e
ngine and gearbox. some need minor repair-like the horizontal stabalizer.
Others will require major repair.=0A=0AIf you are interested in obtaining
parts please contact me.=0AStan Tew=0A8853 Oak Meadow Ct=0AMontgomery AL 36

      Hey Noel, Dave,
Would you please take the alternative energy discussion

I saw the bi-plane version one night late on some unknown website and have
never found it again. I would be interested in a picture of that if anyone

In addition to taking the alt energy off the list EVERYONE should be
reminded of the DO NOT ARCHIVE requirement for the fluff items so that when
a person wants to search the archives, one needn't go through all this
useless fluff, which are just personal opinions on meaningless items not
pertaining to building or flying a Kitfox.

Ok I finally tested some gas today.
I put in about 1 " of water into a container and added about 10 " of regular pump
gas and the water level increased right away about 1/2" . I thine shook it
and let it settle - now i has 2 " of water , shook it again and got a bit more
. So there you go -- it got ethanol I guess?

So what does that tell you ? what ever i been using has caused no issues for
      me yet.

It helps to remember to add the "do not archive" if you put it into
your signature (mail preferences on my machine), then before you send
the mail, ask yourself if this is "a keeper" or not. If not, just
send it. If it's worth keeping in the archives, remove the "do not
archive" and send it....so simple even I can do it....I don't always
      remember, but that's another story.

Proper list etiquette is not "nonsense" Dave, but failing to treat
others with respect is. Yes, Lynn and Ted should have changed the
subject for their posts but that does not give you license to lambast
      them.

...particularly when you are guilty of the same offense.

If you have a complaint about the list I'd appreciate it if you'd
address your comments to Guy or myself off-list.

Now, let's get back to talking about building and flying Kitfoxes and
      Avid Flyers, shall we?
