I had the same problem with my lightspeed headset. The vinyl peeled off, so I removed it completely. WHAT A MISTAKE. The vinyl is what seals out most of the noise, I guess, because they sounded terrible after I removed it. A couple days later the band broke, and I called to see if I could buy the plastic part that broke so I could install it myself, but they had to be sent in. I told the lady on the phone about the ear piece foam, and she said that the band repair would be covered under warranty, but I would have to pay for the foam. I whined and cried enough that she agreed to have it done for nothing. They stood behind their product (for me) but need to change these two areas. The vinyl should not peel off the foam and need to be replaced every year. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=211158#211158

Feel free to add my name to the list of unhappy customers. I have a pair of 20xl's that perform well, but the vinyl on the ear muffs is flaking off. I called Lightspeed and they wanted to charge $20 per pair for new muffs. The lady, who was very nice, also said they no longer have all the parts to support the 20 xl's. So, in the future, if they break, they may not be able to fix them. That's the part that concerns me.
