A couple of years ago I implemented an automatic "squelch button" of sorts for
the Fund Raiser messages. Here's how it works... As soon as a List member makes
      a
Contribution through the Matronics Fund Raiser web site, he or she will instantly
cease to receive these Fund Raiser messages for the rest of the month! Its
just that simple. Don't you wish PBS worked that way! :-)

I really do appreciate each and every one of your individual Contributions to support
the Lists. It is your support that enables me to upgrade the hardware
      and
software that are required to run a List Site like this. It also goes to pay for
the commercial-grade Internet connection and to pay the huge electric bill
      to
keep the computer gear running and the air conditioner powered on. I run all of
the Matronics Email List and Forums sites here locally which allows me to
control and monitor every aspect of the system for the utmost in reliably and performance.

Your personal Contribution matters because, when combined with other Listers such
as yourself, it pays the bills to keep this site up and running. I accept
exactly ZERO advertising dollars for the Matronics Lists sites. I can't stand
the pop-up ads and all other commercials that are so prevalent on the Internet
these days and I particularly don't want to have it on my Email List sites.

If you appreciate the ad-free, grass-roots, down-home feel of the Matronics Email
Lists, please make a Contribution to keep it that way!!

              http://www.matronics.com/contribution

      Thank you!

related message. For example, if someone replies to one of the messages,
when using the List Browse feature, or when accessing List message via the Forum.
The system keys on the given email address and since most of these are
anonymous public access methods, there is no simple way to filter them.]

rebuild it. I just finished putting the last oinked tape on the wing of my re-build.
same thing happened to the guy I bought the wreck from. hard landing,
gear folded, he went on his back. He did some major damage but it will fly again
this weekend after alot of work (more than if I had just built a kit). Will
it be worth it... every dime and every hour I have spent on it.

Last year, we had the same thing happen on my brothers kitfox. Bounced it good,
gear folded, we went over on its back. Got the gear, prop, wing tips and cowling.
A little glass work, a patch here and there, new prop and it was flying
2 weeks later (had to wait on the new gear from Avid).

Don't give up, now is a good time to do any mods you thought of after it was built
the first time. I would recommend the Avid Wide gear, or the new "Cub" style
gear as the stock KF gear is prone to breaking. I know 4 locally that have
balled it up do to a gear failure on landings that were not really that bad.
I have beat the crap out of the Avid wide gear with no issues so far!

Went to the airport to fly my Fox. I have 2 Lightspeed 20XL noise canceling
headsets. They are about-five years old. I went to put one of my-heads
ets on and it came apart-in my hand (Adjustment band broke). I contacted
the factory and sent them my headset. It cost me $17.00 to ship it with $40
0 insurance. This happened on Thursday. Got my headset back in four days li
ke brand new. They repaired it and did a diagnostic. They shipped it UPS Or

Legally, I don't think you have to have an endorsement for an experimental.
--- That being said do not fly it without one or the equivalent exper
ience to get one.- Tail wheel experience is a must.- Ideally, experienc
e in a Kitfox but probably if you can get some in a cub champ etc. it will
be OK.- One tip I read on- a Maule list (off center seating like the Ki
tfox) is to put a piece of tape on the cowl and panel to highlight when tru
ly aligned with the runway.- I haven't tried it yet but it sounds good.

I am looking a possibility purchasing 2 different KF Vikings. Based on
the Part/Serial # can anyone tell me the approximate dates the kits were
made? One of them I think laid around quite a while before completion. I
feel the later one probably has the latest improvements that may have
been made to the kit like the beefed up nose gear etc.
      The numbers are :

That was Bill Hemple flying a 50% model. That is part of his new "airshow" routine.
He originally had it happened accidentaly with a 50% Edge 540, was able
to land it with one wing, then he decided it was cool enough to develope a system
to so he could jettison the wing at will.

So it is not the real plane pulling that one off, but a real big model.

      John,
I'm guessing it's deep enough that you don't want to just
live with it. If it's deep it can't be repaired, since you'll cause
even more damage to the metal pulling it out. One thing you could do
that would be easier than a new spar, although uglier, would be to
glue and screw an aluminum patch over it. A lot depends on where it
is relative to the strut bracket and ribs.

      Charles,
There are no plans for the off-road gear. Lowell Fitt at
Highwing LLC and John McBean at Kitfox LLC are marketing them
complete. You could, however, do as my original builder did and
rebuild the your landing gear with larger tubes and more reinforcement.

Very nice but ... a fake. Anyway, it would be better if you sent e.g. a link from
YouTube, instead of sending the file itself. Not all of us has ADSL connection.

Incidentally, on YouTube, you can see the faking:

Guy, We've considered the patch idea & think that may work. Pops is an A&P & we've
built a couple kitfoxs now. I would like to find some 2.5" tube for patch
material & see if anyone has ribs. Again thanks for the input. John S.

      John,
I'm guessing it's deep enough that you don't want to just
live with it.

Does anyone have specifics on how to hook up the dual bing carbs on the
Stratus Subaru engine to a single cable throttle, including cable part
      numbers etc.

[quote="oscardog"]I am looking a possibility purchasing 2 different KF Vikings.
Based on the Part/Serial # can anyone tell me the approximate dates the kits
were made? One of them I think laid around quite a while before completion.
I feel the later one probably has the latest improvements that may have been
made to the kit like the beefed up nose gear etc.
       The numbers are :
       V9412-0023
       V9610-0023

       Thanks,

George, My Classic 4 kit came out of the factory in August of 1994. The serial
number is C9408-00XX. So, those two vixens may be almost twins.

I can not say if the video is ALL computer generated or not, the last part is fake,
but I think the actual landing is a real RC plane, not computer. Large
RC aerobatic planes have MOST DEFINITELY been landed after a wing has separated
as you see in the video. If you ever saw a master RC pilot flying a state
of the art aerobatics plane, doing the landing you see in the video would be easy
compared to some of the other things I have seen them do.
