Subject: | Pat Reilly, nav lights |
Pat=0A=0AI have a Rotax 912 with a similar restriction on power output (18
amp rating).- If I fly with my Strobes and Nav lights my battery discharg
es during flight.- I measured the amp draw and the Whelen tip nav lights
draw upwards of 7 amps by themselves.- The strobe is about 1.5 amps.- W
hen I put LED lamps in the nav lights they draw less about 4/10ths of an am
p.- The LED's that I found to fit do not put out but about 1/3 of the lig
ht, but now I can fly with them on.- I used to switch between the nav and
strobes during flight so that I did not use them both at once.- You are
wise to beware about the amp draw.- If you have the Whelen position light
s that have 4 lamps they will really draw down your battery in a hurry.=0A

rivers, I am rebuilding a Mod 3 that was originally equiped with a 912 that
I am installing a 582 in. the plane has strobes, nav lights and a radio. I
fear that my lighting coil will not put out enough power to handle all tho
se electrics. I remember seeing a set up for an auxillary alternator belt
-drive off of the prop hub., maybe from CPS, I don't know. I remember tha
t it seemed to cost 3 X what I thought it should. Anyone out there have exp
erience with one or have designed one yourself.=0Ado not archive=0APat Reil

Round tubes are not repairable.- The loads on the tubes can not be transf
erred evenly by any patch either internal or external.- The lack of descr
iption of the exact location and extent of damage make any speculation on i
ts repair suspect.=0A=0ABecause the leading edge of the wing is a structura
l spare, leading edge dents are structural defects and not just aerodynamic
anomolies as on some aircraft.=0A=0AJim Shumaker=0A=0A=0A-=0A=0A=0A-----

Dave G" <occom@ns.sympatico.ca>=0A=0AI am just finishing up after replacing
both of my rear spars. One with a =0Asmall but deep dent at jury strut att
