| Subject: | Fund Raiser List of Contributors - Please Make A Contribution |
      Today!

Each year at the end of the List Fund Raiser, I post a message acknowledging everyone
that so generously made a Contribution to support the Lists. Its sort of
my way of publicly thanking everyone that took a minute to show their appreciation
      for the Lists.

Won't you take a moment and assure that your name is on that List of Contributors
(LOC)? As a number of members have pointed out over the years, the List seems
at least - if not a whole lot more - valuable as a building/flying/recreating/entertainment
tool as your typical magazine subscription!

Please take minute and assure that your name is on this year's LOC! Show others
that you appreciate the Lists. Making a Contribution to support the Lists is
fast and easy using your Credit card or Paypal on the Secure Web Site:

      	http://www.matronics.com/contribution

or by dropping a personal check in the mail to:

      	Matt Dralle / Matronics
      	PO Box 347
      	Livermore CA 94551-0347

I would like to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution thus
far in this year's List Fund Raiser! Remember that its YOUR support that keeps
these Lists going and improving! Don't forget to include a little comment about
how the Lists have helped you!

      Best regards,

Kitfoxers, I am trying to find an oil tank like the one pictured on the
Classic IV $21750 on Barnstormers. It is attached to firewall just behind
the bluehead 582. It doesn't seem to conform to any I can find in catologs.
The owner answered my e-mail, isn't the builder and can't help me. Hey John
McBean you don't sell that tank do you?

I have a Rotax 912 with a similar restriction on power output (18 amp ratin
g). If I fly with my Strobes and Nav lights my battery discharges during f
light. I measured the amp draw and the Whelen tip nav lights draw upwards
of 7 amps by themselves. The strobe is about 1.5 amps. When I put LED lam
ps in the nav lights they draw less about 4/10ths of an amp. The LED's tha
t I found to fit do not put out but about 1/3 of the light=2C but now I can
fly with them on. I used to switch between the nav and strobes during fli
ght so that I did not use them both at once. You are wise to beware about
the amp draw. If you have the Whelen position lights that have 4 lamps the
y will really draw down your battery in a hurry.

They were about $2200 delivered for my RV-8. Stock gear were ~$550. I got the
airfoiled ones. In a word, they are sweet. Work of art. Here are a few pictures
of what the RV-8 airfoiled units look like:

Pat=0A=0AGood questions.- I have radio, transponder, strobes, nav lights,
instrument post-lights, gps, turn and bank, engine instrument gages, ANR
-headset-power supply-and intercom.- That 18 amps is at high rpms,
and 80% of that is only 14.4 amps.- I should add it all up so that I know
exactly how much each uses, but my experience is that flying at night uses
power out of the battery.- After landing the engine has had to be jumped
to get it to start because the descent used enough power to drain down the
battery.- There are no plug in lamps for the Whelen position lights.-
Whelen says they cannot do that because the unit has to be certified as a c
omplete unit.- To get the correct spread of light at the right intensity
requires design from a clean sheet of paper anyway.- Installing automotiv
e lamps gives light that is not optimized for the lens.=0A=0AJim Shumaker

      John,

I didn't have an opportunity to call today, but I did talk to Mark, At
present, he wants to keep all fab in house. I am busy now making jigs for
the gear legs. The cabane and spring strut jigs are done. I will let you
know when they will be available. My guess, 4 or 5 weeks with all the honey
      dos etc around here.

      Lowell

| Subject: | N61PW takes to the skys again |

After a few years under a tarp, I rescued N61PW from going to the dump. 2 years
later, after an extensive rebuild and lots of real bad swear words I got to
give her the first flight today. She came out a portly 581 pounds even after
I removed a bunch of crap the original builder had installed... but I think I
added back all but 3 pounds by using medium weight fabric and putting on 24" aircraft
tires (heavy buggers). It came out with a CG of 11.8". I will be putting
a survival pack together and putting it as far aft as I can in the extended
bagage area (goes back to the front of the vert. stab.)

All in all it has been alot of fun, but more work that if I had bought a new kit...
Today made all the cuts and burns worth it when she broke ground and did
      not have any bad habits.
