Even with the bigger engine I don't see how you could add 230# to what I have. Guy Buchanan San Diego, CA K-IV 1200 / 582-C / Warp / 100% done, thanks mostly to Bob Ducar. Do not archive

Andrew=2C Looks like a good deal. The seller has a very good history of rel ated sales. I have a 582 with only 100 hrs on it. I contemplated buying the rebuild kit myself=2C But=2C my engine is such low time=2C I would probabl y forget where I put it when I needed it. do not archive Pat Reilly Mod 3 582 Rebuild Rockford=2C IL> Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: 582 Rebuild kit questions=2C and ignition questions.> From: lawrenceaw@corning.com> Date: Thu=2C 4 Dec 2008 04:12:55 -0800> To: kitfox-list@matronics.com> > --> Kitfox-List message po sted by: "815TL" <lawrenceaw@corning.com>> > Anyone have any opinions? Stay away from it. I got suckered into it, as did a buddy of mine. They are single ring pistons from a 583 snowmobile engine. At 3 hrs the rings failed on akflyerbobs. We pulled the engine down and the rings had NO spring left in them. They looked good when they went into the engine. The cylinders were precision honed and the ring end gap was fine. After the break in and a little over an hour in the air, I noticed a loss of power especially at takeoff. I made a quick turn around the airport at less than half the pattern altitude and got her back on the ground. I shut it down and jumped out and gave the prop a spin by hand and I may as well have had a turbine in the nose, there was virtually no compression. -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 IVO IFA Full Lotus 1260 As done as any plane will ever be.... cause now the tinkeritis takes over. hander outer of humorless darwin awards Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=217722#217722
