Warm to the touch is ok. Very hot...would be a concern. If you are using an automotive solenoid (like for a starter) I wouldnt think this would be the best choice. They are designed for intermittent use. As Tom statedit must be for continuous use! Most RV (camping) places sell a continuous duty solenoid for about $30-$35. We had one go bad in our bus. I did the $12 (Ford style) solenoid from Auto Zone. It worked for a couple of hoursthen things started melting. TOO hot! Replace it with a continuous use model from the RV storeand all is well. It does get warmbut not hot. We have pounded them off pavement, grass, rock, snow, sand and gravel. No issues with them to date. I thought they were holding up much better than the ground off ATV tires that were originally supplied. There are a few scuff marks from the pavement, but that is it. One must be cautious. Big tires with low inflation pressure on pavement can get to be a hand full very quickly. If all you fly off of is pavement, I would not recommend the KF tires. -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry aka SNAKE Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 IVO IFA Full Lotus 1260 #1 snake oil salesman since 1-22-2009 hander outer of humorless darwin awards Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=237658#237658

I will not knowingly purchase any CITGO products.. I want to comment on the Pennzoil Issue. I flew a Challenger 2 with a Rotax 503 . I mixed the oil and gas carefully to make sure it was in solution completely before putting in my plane. I had some carbon issues, but nothing like was described in some other email. I have seen people put a pint of Pennzoil in the fuel tank and then add fuel. This did not mix the oil and gas properly. my 2 cents and today it isn't worth much. Lynn, I am guessing that the Jabiru engine handles the lead in 100 LL better than the Rotax 912 does ? Do you have any lead issues or increased maintenance with the Jabriru 2200 when using 100 LL ? The increased maintenance list and drawbacks to using 100 LL in the 912 is quite long :( Mike -------- "NO FEAR" - If you have no fear you did not go as fast as you could have !!! Hi Mike, The Jabiru engine has lead issues just like all aircraft that use 100LL. The Rotax gets a little extra attention because it has a gearbox, too. Maint. schedules all have to take into account the lead build up and change oil, plugs and maint. accordingly. Anyone using 100LL ought to be using something like Decalin to help keep the lead build up to a minimum. You can carry Decalin in the cabin and does not have the harsher chemicals as TCP does. You use 1/2 oz. per 10 gals. You can buy it at Aircraft Spruce. 91 Octane (with or without ethanol) is much less an evil than 100LL. Rotax very soon will have in writing 10% ethanol to be ok in their engines. It already has the 5% in writing and most (no, not all) fuel pumps only test out to 5-7% ethanol. Many people use automotive parts in there kit planes and with a little double checking you may find your fuel system is compatible with ethanol just like your car or motorcycle. -------- Roger Lee Tucson, Az. It handles the lead quite well, but I'd like to use TCP or some other additive, but Jabiru says no. One of these days I'll ask why. When I tore my engine down due to a broken timing gear, I found the rings to be free, but there was some carbon buildup behind the rings, but based on my experience rebuilding auto engines (apples and oranges?), it wasn't out of the ordinary. I've never found the lead to be a problem with the spark plugs. I attended an EAA workshop today In suburban Detroit (and will tomorrow) on composite construction, and while waiting for my workshop to start, ran into two other Kitfox drivers there. I won't mention their names, just in case they had told their wives they were going bowling and didn't want to own up to spending the grocery money on such a foolish endeavor. : ) Suffice it to say, that we Kitfoxer's stay educated and keep up with the times. I should also add that we were 3 Kitfoxer's out of maybe 75 people in attendance...that's a pretty good ratio, I'd say. And I should add that I was able to get home and get an hour's worth of flying in as well. And I should also add....Go State! I have a bunch of 3' chunks of the trailing edge that Avid sent me... I ended up getting new 10'ers from ACS so I would not have a bunch of splices. I dont get home till the 14th, but if you dont find any by then, I would be happy to ship it to you free of charge. -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry aka SNAKE Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 IVO IFA Full Lotus 1260 #1 snake oil salesman since 1-22-2009 hander outer of humorless darwin awards Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=237770#237770
