    Subject: Re: Aero Carb
Jim- I do have limited experience with the Aero Carb, it came on a Franklin engine I recently purchased and installed 11 hrs ago -replacing an 0-200 by the way. The aero carb was very simple, looks great and is a modern design. I ground tested with it for 2 hrs but decided to install the old Marvel MA3 for the time being to get used to the Franklin. Did not want to much new stuff at a time. There was one drawback to the Aero Carb- it needs frequent mixture adjustment and close monitoring of EGT. With operator inattention the aero carb lets raw fuel out. This happens at idle if you don't quickly lean. This bothered me as the engine was new to me but I will install it soon and check it out in flight. I do like the expected lower fuel burn and modern design. No there was nothing wrong with the 0-200 I just came across the Franklin, it was reasonable, I like to tinker and somebody wanted my 0-200 so I went for it, the Franklin had been fitted with high compression pistons and is supposedly making 130 HP. The HP gain seems correct as my Ivo Props pitch adjustment is now maxed out and I am still over redline, bigger prop in the works. There was not much top speed gain, only 10 mph but I sure like the climbout and the low vibration. Also, if you look real close at the right side of the top picture, you'll see what looks like another Kitfox under construction. Subject: Kitfox Lite finally sold to Wichita couple
    From: "dave" <dave@cfisher.com>
Looks like it was not being discussed before when i brought up the Michael Berglund was selling out the Kitfox Lite line. Well it looks like a done deal now . Good luck to the Weibes in their new venture and good luck to Mike and his health. Dave Wichita entrepreneurs acquire Kitfox Ultralight production rights WICHITAWichita entrepreneurs James and Kathy Wiebe have acquired the rights to manufacture an ultralight aircraft called the Kitfox Lite. The Wiebes have formed a new business called Belite Aircraft to market it. The company will offer kits and fully assembled aircraft. The couple has acquired the tooling, existing parts and manufacturing rights to the aircraft. As a condition of the transaction, they plan to rebrand the plane to prevent confusion with a larger, two-place light sport Kitfox that shares some design features but is owned by another company. The Wiebes will announce availability and pricing later this summer at the Experimental Aircraft Associations AirVenture 2009 in Oshkosh, Wis. They expect to have an aircraft on display there. They could not immediately be reached for comment. James Wiebe, an instrument-rated pilot, is developing a proprietary lightweight carbon fiber structure he will incorporate into the planes construction. He also will include other modifications into the design to further improve performance and versatility, Wiebe said in a statement. Converting the spars, ribs and struts to the carbon fiber will reduce the aircrafts weight, which will bring it well below Federal Aviation Administration weight limits for ultralight vehicles, according to information in a news release. The carbon fiber will have potential for other aircraft and in other markets, they said. The Wiebes are the founders and former owners of WiebeTech, a digital forensic computer storage device company, and Newer Technologies. -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ Awesome *New Forum * http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=246512#246512

Hi Each Goodyear 26" tire weight is 23 lbs. (pair is 46 lbs) What about Alaskan Bushwheel ?? 26" Goodyear U$S 520 each 26" Alaskan U$S 1000 each price difference justify weight difference? We are a dealer for the Alaskan Bushwheel and have a set of the 26" for our aircraft. They are much lighter. I know we are working with them to make a tire that is of the same design but a size between the 800 and the 850. Fly Safe !! If so, how did you like them? They are made for the blimp operations and I have heard they are pretty stiff even with low pressure. You also have to be careful with really hard breaking because you can rotate the tire on the rim and can snap the valve stems off the tube. They also weigh about 22lbs each. That's 44lbs of tires. Is this worth it? I would also appreciated any comments on 8.00x6 and 8.50x6 tires as well. Also, Alaskan Bushwheel is now making a 26" and 29" tire for light sport aircraft that are lighter then the regular ones the produce. They are called Airstreaks. Anyone have any experience with these tires or the regular Bushwheels? Any feed back would be great. Chris... 2000 Model IV Speedster Great Planes VW 2180 76hp 260 hours.
