| Subject: | Starr Aviation Insurance?? |

Anyone have any information on, or experience with Starr Aviation as an insurance
underwriter? It is time for me to renew my policy and Falcon sent me two quotes,
one from my current underwriter AIG and another from Starr. The Starr
quote is a full $1100 below the AIG quote with assumed equal coverage limits.
My main question is does Starr cover off airport landing (intentional off airport)
as I know AIG does. I would assume that if the airstrip has an identifier
than operations at the strip would be covered but again that is just an assumption.
AIG will cover you regardless of where you decide to land.

The other question or thought is will AIG even be around in a year? Should I switch
to Starr simply because of the problems AIG is having?

Thanks for the invite Nick, I hope to make it one of these years. I just
came back from Cub Haven, the annual Cub fly-in up at Lock Haven, and I
already have Father's Day dedicated to family camping in upstate NY.

Hopefully your posting here will encourage other Kitfoxers to go to
Shreveport though, it sounds like a really good time!

This is a little off topic. What are you doing this weekend Bob. There is
      a fathers day fly-in at Shrevesport (62PA) this weekend. It's only 23nm
from 8n7 there will be at least two Kitfoxes and maybe a couple of Avids.

Father's Day 2009 - at Shreveport North. Friday features the legendary
Prime Rib buffet while Saturday is highlighted by the opening ceremonies
including the newly introduced "Parade of Sports Cars" featuring an original
Stanley Steamer, a Model T Ford and a Ford Model A, plus the members of the
Pennsylvania Triumph Club. This is followed by pilot games and competitions
and the kids favorite "A Bear from the Air". The Saturday Picnic starts
around 4:00 PM and Bingo is at 6:00. The pool, the volley ball courts and
the horseshoe pits are open all weekend and food is available throughout at
the Cross Winds Cafe. There are free movies and popcorn on the flightline
on Friday and Saturday evenings after sundown. As they say down south -
      "Ya' all come!"

Here is a link to their website http://www.footlightranch.com/

Anyway I'll be there on Sat and would like to meet you.

That's a surprisingly large difference in quote amounts. That would indicate to
      me
that one or both of two things has occurred - 1) The coverage is different (type
      of
aircraft, configuration, location, etc) or 2) The evaluation of risk or risk
assessment is different. You need to read your existing policy and make some
summarizing notes. Then phone Starr or have your agent at Falcon do this work for
      you.

You got to clear the doubts you have (assumptions). Have your agent at Falcon do
      the
leg work whether or not you analyze the policy yourself.

You've sure presented worthwhile questions, they deserve accurate answers.

Uncle Sam has a pretty tight squeeze on them. They can't go away in the next year
      at
least. They are wanting to pay back their TARP funds now so they can get those
$millions of your policy money going to those highly productive executives they
wouldn't be able to get without the $millions in bonus and incentives. :) So, I'd
      say
they will be business as usual before they miss two inflated bonus cycles.

"The idea that American 'hate groups' are right-wing and bristling with vets
got new life with JFK's assassination at the hands of a disgruntled vet named Lee
Harvey Oswald. Everybody knew right away that Oswald was an agent of 'hate' --
      and
hate was code for right-wing and racist. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren
summed up the instantaneous conventional wisdom when he blamed the 'climate of
hatred' for Kennedy's death. Everybody knew that the right was involved. There
      was
just one inconvenient truth: Oswald was a communist who, according to the Warren
report, had 'an extreme dislike of the rightwing' and had actually tried to murder
      a
right-wing former Army general. When Hollywood filmed the Tom Clancy novel 'The
      Sum
of All Fears,' it changed the real villains from Jihadi terrorists to a bunch of
European CEOs who were secret Nazis. Because 'everybody knows' that's where the
      real
threat lies. Sen. John Kerry belonged to an organization of vets that considered
assassinating American politicians. (Kerry denied participating in those meetings.)
Barack Obama was friends with, and a colleague of, a domestic terrorist whose
organization plotted to murder soldiers and their wives at a social at Fort Dix.
      A
young Hillary Clinton sympathized with the Black Panthers, a paramilitary gang
      of
racist murderers and cop killers. Bring that up and you're a paranoid nutcase out
      of
'Dr. Strangelove.' But if you're terrified of a bunch of citizens who throw tea
      in
the water and demand lower taxes and less government spending, well, that's just
      a
sign of political seriousness. Because everyone knows who the real threat to the
      country is."

Well it has been a while but I have an update. I took the RED wire off of the
ignition switch and ran it to a spare switch on the panel, through a fuse. When
the switch is on the charging function reaches the battery. when the switch
is off the charging function dies at the regulator. When the switch is on I
am observing about 14-15V on the panel, so the charging system is now working.
      Freakin awesome.

But now the "charging" is coming through to the radio and making noise. I would
not even notice but the intercom has an Ipod interface and the music mutes when
the radio makes noise and it is not even worth playing music at this point.
      Any ideas on this one?
