Subject: | 582 on floats question?? |
Rate of climb.. I also made a typo it was supposed to be just over
1000'/min... Flying with a 100 ft/min ROC isn't what I'd consider safe
unless you were out on the praries.
I also forgot to say my plane is one of the last model II to be built and
was wupposed to be upgraded to model III... It has the under cambered wings
and is less than 600 lb tare.

Thanks Noel for your reply.Sorry, but what is ROC? Climb to altitude
under 3000' is only 100 ft/min with floats?

you guys are getting some pretty darn good performance. My buddies KF II on wheels,
582 72" IVO IFA climbs about 1200 FPM and around 700 FPM on floats solo
with 9 gallons in the nose tank, a little less if you fill the 12 gallon wing
tank. My Avid with same engine and prop only gets about 900 FPM solo with 28
gallons.

My seat truss and longerons were bent pretty good. As long as the tubes are not
buckled, you would be surprised what you can do with a block of wood and a soft
blow hammer. I used .020" 4130 plate on the sides of the fuse from the firewall
back to the strut attach point to add some rigidity to the fuse sides to
keep them from bending again. Seems to do the trick as I have beat it pretty
good on skis hitting ice chunks and snowmachine tracks.

why go straight for crank seals? First thing to do is what Whurly said. Swap
EGT senders and see if the high reading follows a sender or the display. Akflyerbobs
did the same thing and it was the display not the seals. Another thing
to check is for any corrosion or loose connections where the senders plug into
the display. Any added resistance in a connection will cause a huge error
in the reading. Start the checks at the most obvious (and cheapest and easiest
to fix) then move on to bigger and more expensive / time consuming repairs.

No speed... 75-80 on a good day. But with the Ivo IFA I do get rocket ship
climb at close to 900 lb.
I'm getting close to getting the 'Fox back in the air with the new 912.

Subject: | Re: Gross weight VS DA |
As far as re-pitching, I have a GSC that I don't feel like messing with and plan
on replacing it with a GA IVO soon. I should probably adjust the jets since
I am running a little cold but I have left that alone since I am currently battling
a water temp issue which has me thinking I need to purchase the radiator
scoop. On that, any one replace the stock radiator with one a little larger?
What was the radiator meant for? I tried shopping for a slightly larger radiator
but all anyone cares about is what vehicle it is for and no one talks dimensions.
And just because I can't keep anything simple, all of this is taking place while
I am trying to re-fly my 3 hours of test prep for my check ride. The fun continues
. . .
