Hello Has anyone seen, or used, or heard of anyone using the full lotus tail wheels. The ones that are mounted on the rear of each float. If so, do you have any info to share, or best of all, some pictures maybe. I use wire - I think it about 1/8 or 5/32 . You crimp them on the bungees . Bull rings - what ever -- they grip and I tested them to 1500 lbs on ends Look at any other bungee you buy -- they all the same -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ Awesome *New Forum * http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250137#250137

Ever wonder what the color codes on the bungees means? http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library%5CrgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/list/AC%2043.13-1B/$FILE/Chapter%2009-10.pdf The color code is on page 9-2. I tried to copy and paste but the table came out scrambled. Here's what it says. >From 43.13-b "The cord is color coded to to indicate when it was manufactured and to determine the life of the cord. According to MIL-C-5651A, the color code for the year of manufacturer is repeated in cycles of 5 years. Table 9-1 shows the color of the code thread for each year and quarter year. Years ending with: 0 or 5 Black, 1 or 6 green, 2 or 7 Red, 3 or 8 Blue, 4 or 9 Yellow, Quarter: 1st - Red, 2nd - Blue, 3rd - green, 4th - yellow The color coding is composed of threads interwoven in the cotton sheath that holds the strands of rubber cord together. Two spiral threads are used for the year coding and one thread is used for the quarter of the year sheath, e.g. yellow and blue would indicate that the cord was manufactured in 1994 during April, May, or June." I guess that might be 1999 or 2004 now too. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250145#250145

Richard; I'm in Lanark Village just west of Ottawa. There are several Kitfoxs in Eastern Ontario. My own Mk II is just nearing completion (582 c box). I have a set of Zenair floats which I have purchased as I plan to keep it at my cottage. Give me a call at 613 259-3242 if you want to chat or come up and take a look at the plane. > So the colot tells us how old it is but does anyone know the service life of mil spec bungee cord? The kitfox gear should be tight up against the fuselage when two people are on board. I have heard of Cubs going for 20 years or more. >From 43.13b: "a. Old aircraft landing gear that employs a rubber shock (bungee) cord for shock absorption must be inspected for age, fraying of the braided sheath, narrowing (necking) of the cord, and wear at points of contact with the structure and stretch. If the age of the shock cord is near 5 years or more, it is advisable to replace it with a new cord. A cord that shows other defects should be replaced, regardless of age." -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250215#250215

dont know if you have read the articles by Mike Stratman about the proper care and feeding of your 2 stroke, but it does make you understand the different circuits on the carbs and how to properly tune them instead off guessing at what you need to do. My interpretation, for what it's worth, is that the service life is determined by inspection not to exceed 5 years from manufacturing date and standard of practice is replacement every two years. Sunlight and service environment affect useful service life. I further believe that as slack develops to the point where they need to be re-tightened that this can be done only once but as a matter of practice, new ones are used. -- Paul A. While April 15 serves as a reminder, the people of the United States truly do not need to be reminded. They are victims of inflation, which pushes them into higher tax brackets. They are robbed daily of a better standard of living. They are discouraged from work and investment. ... The choice before us is clear. I strongly feel that the great majority of Americans believe that nothing would better encourage economic growth than leaving more money in the hands of the people who earn it. It's time to stop stripping bare the productive citizens of America and funneling their hard-earned income into the Federal bureaucracy." -- Ronald Reagan "Didn't the President, with a straight face, promise to reduce the deficit by half in five years? The Congressional Budget Office forecasts government spending over the next 10 years will quadruple the annual deficit of Bush's presidency. The CBO expects the nation's debt to double in five years and triple in 10. But according to The Heritage Foundation, Obama's claim of '$2 trillion in savings over the next decade' is 'simply not true'. His budget increases spending by $1 trillion over the next decade, which he attempts to offset by reclassifying as "savings" $1.4 trillion in tax increases and $1.5 trillion in reduced spending in Iraq.' First he describes tax increases as 'savings.' Then he falsely projects spending on the war in Iraq to remain high. By manipulating 'future spending,' Obama can then 'reduce it' and pronounce it 'savings.'" -- columnist Larry Elder

Sorry about the late response. The bungee cord is mil-spec Type I cord of 3 /8" diameter.- They are the dimension of the original Kitfdox bungees.- As I recall, there was a time when Skyster sent out a thinner bungee but r equired more wraps. - When you wrap these, you will find that there will be overlap on at least o ne wrap. - The bungees are returnable if for any reason you are uncomfortable with the m. - Lowell --- On Thu, 6/25/09, carlisle <carlisle_99@yahoo.com> wrote: From: carlisle <carlisle_99@yahoo.com> Subject: Kitfox-List: HighWing Bungees Anyone used these?- The material is quite a- bit thicker than what you get from Kitfox.- Whereas you're supposed to wrap the OEM cords around th e tubes 6 times, measuring out the diameter of the HighWing cords across th e available tubing length, looks like 4 loops will be about max.
