I tried to copy and paste but the table came out scrambled. Here's what it says. >From 43.13-b "The cord is color coded to to indicate when it was manufactured and to determine the life of the cord. According to MIL-C-5651A, the color code for the year of manufacturer is repeated in cycles of 5 years. Table 9-1 shows the color of the code thread for each year and quarter year. Years ending with: 0 or 5 Black, 1 or 6 green, 2 or 7 Red, 3 or 8 Blue, 4 or 9 Yellow, Quarter: 1st - Red, 2nd - Blue, 3rd - green, 4th - yellow The color coding is composed of threads interwoven in the cotton sheath that holds the strands of rubber cord together. Two spiral threads are used for the year coding and one thread is used for the quarter of the year sheath, e.g. yellow and blue would indicate that the cord was manufactured in 1994 during April, May, or June." I guess that might be 1999 or 2004 now too. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250145#250145 ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 08:11:44 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: HighWing Bungees From: "wingman" Dave Can you explain a bit more or post a picture of how you do it. The kitfox gear should be tight up against the fuselage when two people are on board. I have heard of Cubs going for 20 years or more. >From 43.13b: "a. Old aircraft landing gear that employs a rubber shock (bungee) cord for shock absorption must be inspected for age, fraying of the braided sheath, narrowing (necking) of the cord, and wear at points of contact with the structure and stretch. If the age of the shock cord is near 5 years or more, it is advisable to replace it with a new cord. A cord that shows other defects should be replaced, regardless of age." -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250215#250215 ________________________________ Message 11 ____________________________________ Time: 11:57:09 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: mismatched egt's From: "akflyer" dont know if you have read the articles by Mike Stratman about the proper care and feeding of your 2 stroke, but it does make you understand the different circuits on the carbs and how to properly tune them instead off guessing at what you need to do. My interpretation, for what it's worth, is that the service life is determined by inspection not to exceed 5 years from manufacturing date and standard of practice is replacement every two years. Sunlight and service environment affect useful service life. I further believe that as slack develops to the point where they need to be re-tightened that this can be done only once but as a matter of practice, new ones are used. -- Paul A. While April 15 serves as a reminder, the people of the United States truly do not need to be reminded. They are victims of inflation, which pushes them into higher tax brackets. The Congressional Budget Office forecasts government spending over the next 10 years will quadruple the annual deficit of Bush's presidency. The CBO expects the nation's debt to double in five years and triple in 10. But according to The Heritage Foundation, Obama's claim of '$2 trillion in savings over the next decade' is 'simply not true'. His budget increases spending by $1 trillion over the next decade, which he attempts to offset by reclassifying as "savings" $1.4 trillion in tax increases and $1.5 trillion in reduced spending in Iraq.' First he describes tax increases as 'savings.' Then he falsely projects spending on the war in Iraq to remain high. By manipulating 'future spending,' Obama can then 'reduce it' and pronounce it 'savings.'" -- columnist Larry Elder ________________________________ Message 14 ____________________________________ Time: 07:00:48 PM PST US From: Lowell FITT Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: HighWing Bungees Sorry about the late response.
