Jack, I had replaced this cable several times and always just used cable from the local hardwqare store. As I recall it was 1/16 SS cable. Not perfectly sure, though. With essentially no bends, I never thought that the internally lubricated aircraft cable was necessary. I went through the same thing when I needed to replace the choke cables. I just needed to replace the inner cable, since the sleeves were OK. The cables I bought locally and online proved to be too stiff and the chokes wouldn't shut off completely. I learned that there are different "weaves" (not the real term) available and the way the cable in "woven" affects it's flexibility. The common 1/16" cable is 1 x 16. It is too stiff to use in any application that requires a bend (as the choke cables do). I had to use 7 x 7 cable to make it work. You may get away with the 1 x 16 on the throttle, but I would recommend the 7 x 7 for that use as well. I think it would give you a little more leeway if you get a kink or some foreign material in the sleeve. I think I bought the 7 x 7 cable from Leading Edge Airfoils. -------- Jim Feldmann, 3rd owner 1994 Kitfox IV Speedster / 912 Working on my Sport Pilot Certificate Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=251463#251463

Thanks. I bought my prop and wiring used and the wiring that I received was some yucky extension cord material. I threw all the wiring away and there wasn't a circuit breaker in the wiring I received. I have it currently hooked up to a 3 amp breaker which trips quite easily when I get to the end of the stroke. How many amps is the breaker that came with your wiring harness? I thought I read 10 amps somewhere but I can't find the article to confirm. thanks Brian _____ From: owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of mic thiessen Sent: July 4, 2009 1:01 PM Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: Circuit breaker IVO IFA? Brian Not sure of my amps as my Kitfox is not close to home at the moment=2C but would venture a guess that it is 10 amps ot higher. Give IVO a call. they c ould clear it all up. Mine has never triped the breaker. When it hits dead end you can see it on your altenator gauge will spike and its time to let g o of the switch. mic From: brianm@snolab.ca Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: Circuit breaker IVO IFA? Thanks. Did you end up with an ungodly amount of extra wire that you coil up and stuff behind the pannel? IVO sends out a very long harness and cautions you not to cut it as it limits the current that gets to the motor. If you run shorter wires with less resistance, you run the risk of frying the motors, which used to be 37 bucks but are now 100 bucks. I have been through 6 of them until I figured out what the problem was (using high pitch blades as recommended by my brother) that requires the poor little motor to work too hard to flatten them out enough for take off RPM. -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry aka SNAKE Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 IVO IFA Full Lotus 1450 #1 snake oil salesman since 1-22-2009 hander outer of humorless darwin awards Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=251498#251498

Subject: Wing Folding
From: "Av8r3400" <theav8rweb@yahoo.com>
I am the proud owner of a "Classic Model IV" Kitfox. The plane did not come with the wing fold bracket or braces. The other Kitfoxes that I have seen have a tab welded to the tubing on the vertical tail (Just above the h-stab) that the wing braces hook to when the wings are folded. This plane does not have these. There is a tube (currently covered with fabric) similar to the trailer hitch mount tubes on the front of the vertical stab in front of the h-stab. Is this for some other design brackets? Does anyone have a Classic IV that they can photo showing the folded wing bracket mounts?? Thanks in advance! -------- Thanks, Av8r3400 Kitfox Model IV-1200 912UL IVO-IFA Grove Gear Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=251545#251545
