It's been a while, but I remember that getting the mount on the engine was a bit tricky. When I took my engine off to make the repair to the stator, I bolted a 2' x2' piece of 3/4" plywood to the propeller hub, used an engine hoist to removed the engine, then tipped the nose down and lowered the plywood onto a knee high stand I made from 2x4s and clamped the plywood in place. This made an excellent engine stand and was very stable. To re-mount the engine, just reverse the process. I did it by myself and did not feel uncomfortableat any point. It's a slow drip that I could live with if it weren't that it drips on the lower motor mounts. The oil and the heat conspire to ruin the mounts. Only problem is that I have to unmount the engine to get to the problem area. I didn't build this airplane and I've never done any work this involved. Any advice on this? I have my model II together and about ready to fly here in Dallas. I have test run the engine per the Rotax guidelines and have a few questions if anyone will give advice. On starting, one cylinder always starts before the other, and it really shakes running on one-is this typical? I doesn't idle smoothly under 2300 rpm but I haven't tried to sync the carbs. What is the best procedure to sync them. Do you stand behind the spinning prop? That could be scary? I can rig up a manometer out of tubing and oil. Does it attach at the nipple on the front of the carb, and where is the adjustment made? All advice appreciated. Do not archive. If you have time to call me, my cell is 214 734 2524. See you at Airsho, I'll be camping at north 40 by Mooney N99855 and hanging out around the McBean display. It was very reasonable and they sell either the cable or the sheath. If you have the "old" bellcrank,as I have, you can then use Highwing LLc's "throttle bug" which makes carb syncing a piece of cake ! (you pneumatically sync one carb to the other with a turn of a knob-takes all of about 30 seconds !) Here's a photo of a Classic 4 with the wings folded. This is the right wing. The wing lock back brace in the photo has a tab on the right end with a hole for a bolt that holds both lock back braces. The bolt goes through that tube you mentioned at the lower front of the vertical fin. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=251571#251571 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/wing_lock_back_brace_127.jpg ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 07:15:25 AM PST US From: "Andy Fultz" Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: Throttle cable Mic, It must be in some super secret hidden link. I was wondering if that would be necessary. I have access to an engine hoist. I'm hoping that will be enough. Thanks for the tip in the engine mount.
