If you decide to use the one you have let me know as there are some things you can do to reduce the chance of leaks. I replaced mine with material and parts similar to the kit but would just get the kit if I did it today. It saves a lot of figuring out and finding parts needed and is relatively inexpensive. It is much easier to install than fabricating the one supplied with the original wing kit. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=254867#254867 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 01:09:01 PM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Today's flight From: "Tom Jones" I went out flying early this morning. I had the airport all to my self so did a few touch and goes then cruised around the valley. Here's some photos to show what the valley looks like now, one month later. The dark green fields and those with a little brown and green mix are timothy hay. The brown ones are wheat. It is irrigated and doesn't dry enough to combine so they cut it, let it dry a week or so then they combine it. The light green patches in the corn circle are where it has tasseled out and the dark green hasn't tasseled yet. That's my neighborhood on the right across the road to from the corn field. -------- Tom Jones Classic IV 503 Rotax, 72 inch Two blade Warp Ellensburg, WA Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=254916#254916 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/fields_910.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/wheat_field_206.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/corn_circle_2669_107.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/tail_shot_148.jpg ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 03:26:54 PM PST US From: "Lowell Fitt" Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Today's flight Thanks Tom, Your area looks a lot like where we are. Though most agriculture is in the central valley, the foot hills of the Sierras are very similar. As some have posted in the past, it does give one a sense of urgency to finishing the old project. We crossed Nevada by car last week and saw from the ground what had been so common from the air. That helped with the urgency as well. Some of my old stompin' grounds are just south of you over Umtanum pass in the Yakima area. I was up flying early this morning over the Great Salt Lk in Utah. Here's a short vid of an early morning flight about 10 days ago. -------- Steve Wilson Huntsville, UT Kitfox Model 1- 85DD 912A / 3 Blade Warp Drive Convertible Nosewheel & Tailwheel Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=254924#254924 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 04:25:40 PM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: 582 stuck - Udpdate II From: Cecil Stokesberry I disassembled the engine but did not split the case. Don't have the very expensive tools to do so. I cleaned all I could get to using carb cleaner and it did a very good job removing the gunk. Except for the stuck bottom ring - that required soaking for 2 days. I was very careful not to let the carb cleaner stay very long in the crankcase so as not to swell up the o-rings. The gunk in the crankcase dissolved very quickly. I cleaned out the card cleaner using WD40 I didn't want to use water due to the rust possibility. The pistons in the carbs were stuck so solid that I had to use force to remove them. The carbs cleaned up like new in carb cleaner. Every thing I inspected was normal with no wear. Oil in RV and gear box was full and very clean. All on/off valves and quick drains were stuck also. The tanks look clean and no evidence of the kreem pealing. Which makes me think that the gas was the culprit. As many of you thought also. I reassembled the engine and started it today. Started with no problem and ran smoothly. Egt's seemed normal but water temp gage is not working. Oh well.....but I am still happy to have it running again - now back to taxi testing and getting ready for first flight. Thank you all for your helpful comments - what a great group to be a part of. Cecil Kitfox 4 1050 582 C N161CP in N.
