Subject: Re: Kreem Problem Follow Up
Hello Lynn, I tried to catch you while at Oshkosh. I had a chance to see your plane and Stan's. Stan was very helpful. I'm just beginning a Kitfox IV-1200 build. The plane was purchased in 1993 from Skystar. Approximately 5% of the build was completed before the owner died. It's been sitting stored since 2001. It comes with a new grey head 582. I'm trying to decide what to do with the engine which requires complete disassembly, inspection, and rebuild if I'm going to use it. So the question is: How do you like your Jabiru 2200? Would you install the same engine with the experience that you've gained with this engine? Where did you get your engine mount? Would you be willing the send me pictures of your installation? And, lastly, if I choose the 2200, would you consider mentoring my installation? The totally install price (nearly $25K), of the 912, which I had in a Pulsar XP, is just getting ridiculous. Beautiful plane by the way and I got to see you depart. Best Regards, Lane Long EZ, 213EZ and now Kitfox Model IV owner/builder and hope to be flyer... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn Matteson" <lynnmatt@jps.net> Sent: Thursday, July 30, 2009 9:11 AM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Kreem Problem Follow Up > > I agree.....I used Kreem in my never-before-used fuel tanks, and haven't > had a bit of problem in over three years of use. Jim, Sorry to hear about your loss. Glad you are ok. I almost lost blades on my Kitfox III flying it home when I purchased it. Landed overnight and next morning on a walk around a blade twisted in my hand. It had a fresh annual by a Kitfox guru 3 days before. I'd be glad to help, Lane. Sorry I missed you at Osh. Other than a couple of minor problems and one major (a broken timing gear that caused a forced landing), I'm very happy with the engine. The broken gear was apparently a very rare occurrence, and I haven't heard of others having the same problem. That aside, I would definitely go with another Jabiru, even if this went went "south" again. I just like the simplicity of installation, the air-cooling, and the direct drive. A Rotax will climb out better due to its reduction drive and ability to swing a longer prop, but climbing is only part of the flight. I got my engine mount from Pete Krotje at Jabiru USA, in Tennessee. I will send you pictures later on today....if I forget, just remind me via my personal email address: lynnmatt@jps.net Lynn Matteson Kitfox IV Speedster, taildragger Jabiru 2200, #2062, 720 hrs Sensenich 62"x46" Wood prop Electroair direct-fire ignition system Soon to have Rotec TBI-40 injection Status: flying On Jul 31, 2009, at 7:40 AM, lst wrote: > > Hello Lynn, I tried to catch you while at Oshkosh. Does anyone have a diagram on how to route the pitot line out of the wing root and to the instrument panel on a Classic IV? It is not shown in my manual. Richard Toomey

I bought a kit (model II) from a guy in 2002 and it had a 582 gray head engine. I built the Model II and installed the engine and never did anything to it. when I was ready to fly (2005)crank the engine and it ran perfect. Did the break in procedure and flew the aircraft. I sold the model II to a guy in Edna TX. and he now has over 200 hr. on the 582. I would do the same with yours if it was mine, but if you don't think is safe don't do it. This is for information only Kitfox Model II ----- Original Message ----- From: "lst" <ltaylor02@Chartermi.net> Sent: Friday, July 31, 2009 7:40 AM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Kreem Problem Follow Up > > Hello Lynn, I tried to catch you while at Oshkosh. I ran mine out of the rear spar tube, through, then along the butt rib, and finally down along the front side of the left windshield post. I used the screws that hold the windshield in place to also hold "C" clips, into which I placed the pitot tube line. Just be sure that the line is placed close to the bolt that holds the rear spar to the fuselage, so that it won't interfere when/ if you need to fold the wings. I'm working on it now, Pat. Should be a few days at most. Rather than wait for a new cable to arrive, and have to negotiate a curve in it, I am going with a bellcrank device, but having second thoughts about it after working all day on it. Gonna sleep on it and see how I feel about the method in the morning. After 3 1/2 years of construction, Series 7 N725CE took off for the first time on July 28th. I'm happy to report that the first flight was uneventful and required no trimming to fly hands off. Power is provided by a Rotax 912S turning a three bladed IVO electronically adjustable prop and it is a joy to fly with excellent control authority and stability (intercoastals were used on both the rudder and stabilizer). The panel includes includes a Dynon D100, Flight Cheetah FL210 moving map GPS with satellite weather and synthetic vision, EIS engine analyzer, icom A200 radio, and EP Load Center. Custom features include cockpit adjustable rudder trim and custom built hinge gap seals for the elevator which result in very effective elevator control and easy three point landings just above stall speed. The polyfiber system was used for coving and Aerothane paint was used throughout. Empty weight is 838 pounds...several photos attached. Looking forward to flying off the 40 hours! Chris Engler Kitfox 7 Rotax 912S **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! =JulystepsfooterNO115)

Lynn=2C The original builder of my plane's strong suit wasn't electrical. H e for sure wasn't using the shielding going to the strobes. He had it tied in with the wire's main element out at the wing tip=2C and I tried for a wh ile to figure any logical reason in running from the buss to the switch and then to the fuse. Our EAA Chapter is planning to hold a fall cup race. The spring one had a 1 /2 hour course for your type plane. There were 2 582 powered Avid flyers en tered. If you want to come out for the race=2C you can stay with me. Haven' t got the date yet. I'll post it here when we have the date. Subject: Anyone have extra set of drag tubes and brackets?
    From: "sdemeyer" <scottsr1100rt@yahoo.com>
Just thought I'd ask around. I need a set of drag/anti-drag tubes and brackets for left wing on a model IV-1200. If you have a set you don't need or are willing to part with, I'll buy them. Thanks, Scott Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=255478#255478
