The harmonic balance puller is what I used to pull the flywheel from the
PTO of my 582 also with a C box.

I didn't use the fixation pin as I didn't want to put that much torque
on the crank. Instead I just used another bar lever in-between two of
the bolts to push against while tightening the puller.

When you changed the gear ratio how did you pull the big gear off of the
      output shaft?

      Best Regards,

you still need the rotax gear puller for the PTO end to change the seal.
      I broke
down and bought one for changing the gear ratio on mine.

SAR footage here -not sure if it will work outside Ireland. Skip to about 12min
      30sec.

No footage of the ditching but this was taken from the boat that was nearby

the rotax puller. I made a jig to hold the prop flange, then heat the gear up
as it has red locktite on it. the rotax puller will pop it right off. I will
be doing it again this time home going back to my 2.62 gears as i had better
      performance out of them.

and I may have lied to you.. I know on a "B" box you dont have to pull the pinion
gear off the crank to change the seal. I cant remember if the "C" gear is
larger though. I will check it out when I get home next week and see if you can
just slip the new seal on over the pinion gear.

| Subject: | S7 weights question |

Gentlemen, is the 1320# wt limit for the S7/LSA a paper limit?
Reading the company site and their info brochures leads me to wonder
if just adding the heavier landing gear (raising the wt limit on a
NON LSA licensed aircraft) allows a wt limit of 1550#. Comments?
      Thanks, John Reinking/Woodinville, WA

| Subject: | S7 gross weights |

Gentlemen, I am looking at building the S7 because of it's
features and design. Design selection had to include the load-
carrying ability of the Aircraft. My problem: weight. 2 humans
total 500 max plus full fuel 156 #. About 656. It will be built
and licensed as E/AB LSA w/1320 gross wt limit. Adding the heavier
landing gear rthe AIRCRAFT limit can go to 1550. (of course, no
longer a LSA). Does that mean that the LSA aircraft can safely
carry the 656# (if) it has the heavier landing gear? Don't plan on
flying over gross EVER but is the licensing category the only element
keeping me from being able to carry the heavier load at takeoff?

I am installing a Grand Rapids EFIS in my Kitfox 7 SS. I will not be putting any
backup instruments in it. I do not plan to fly IFR, and even if I lost the
entire EFIS, anyone with a little skill and experience should be able to easily
land a light plane like a Kitfox VFR with no instruments. A properly installed
EFIS system is very reliable, probably more reliable than a panel full of
old school vacuum driven Gyros, etc.... I have been flying EFIS airplanes thousands
of hours for the last 10 years, EFIS is clearly superior to analog gages..

In a pinch, GPS makes a great backup for airspeed indicator. I know it reads ground
speed, but I always have a pretty good idea of where the wind is coming
from and how strong when I land, easy enough to get it within a few MPH if one
has no skills and is not capable of doing a landing without airspeed [Wink]

If I just had to have a backup, it would be a single airspeed indicator... Nothing
else. For what its worth, I have seen several failures of mechanical airspeed
indicators, but never an airspeed failure on an EFIS... In the end,
its just a question if a builder is open minded enough to embrace new and better
technology, or if he is so stuck in old ways, that he must have inferior analog
      gages...

Go on the CPS (California Power Systems) Web site and order their catalog.
It is full of very useful info. www.800-airw2lf.com
      or
www.leadingedgeadirfoils.com their catalog is very good but smaller.

Both are rotax dealers with detailed descriptions and pictures of parts and
      tools.

I have a 912S and I had the clutch upgraded to the slipper clutch. I had the
clutch done by a dealer but I had to remove and install the gear box myself.
After I changed the clutch I ran the engine and it all seemed fine, no leaks
and sounded good. Yesterday I taxied out on the water and took a few short
runs just to check that all was well. Oil pressure was good, all temps were
within limits. When I shut off the engine I could hear a dry sound. It
appeared to be coming from the gearbox. I hand proped it and could hear the
same sound almost a squeeking sound from the same area. Pulled the plugs to
check them they were all fine (left them out) and after when the engine
cooled a bit I hand proped it again and it sound normal. Is my gear box not
getting oil? Or is something else wrong. Any ideas
      Shane
