It's nice to hear a report of good news James.

Due to the design there is a lot of torque/twist on the right pedal assembly when
breaking hard with both feet. There have been a few of them break. Go easy
on em especially if the pedals have not been reinforced.

I still like mine. Aircraft handles better, and seems more stable. Plus, I got
to smile a little when I saw two guys wrapping bungees on an older Merlin GT
a couple of weekends ago; Never again (at least on this plane).

Regrets: Only the reduced performance. My aircraft was never a speed demon, and
the increased drag has really played with it. Level cruise is only effected
by 5 mph, but it also means slower to build speed, and recoup lost airspeed.
I'm definitely going to be installing some speed mods to counteract the loss.
It will be interesting afterward to see how much of the improved handling characteristics
are due to the extra drag.

      I thought I would provide a up-date to my earlier problem. I have flown 4 t
imes since I first wrote and have had no further issues with the noisy clut
ch. One thing I have noted is that the engine doesn't normally run as hot a
s it did that time when I thought I had a problem. It runs about 20 to 30 d
egrees cooler while in flight. So perhaps that was all it was, the clutch d
oesn't like the upper limits of the operating temp.
So all is good, engine runs fine.

      Hi Guys
Further to the two posts below I duly received my "replacement" radio
from Microair. But much to my surprise it was an old well worn one that
Microair had repaired and it was 320 serial numbers before the new one I
got. In the meantime I have given the new one back to the agent but
Microair are now saying that because the old "replacement" has a full
factory warranty it is a FAIR SWAP for my new one !!!!!!!!!!! I have
paid full price for a new radio and have ended up with an old second
hand one that had been returned to Microair for repair !!! But at
      least it does work OK.

I am currently exchanging some heated emails and will keep you posted on
      developments.

Re Malcolm Brubaker's post. How old is your radio Malcolm and what is
      wrong with it.

Thanks for the comments guys. After a bit of arm twisting Microair
have agreed to send me a replacement radio before I send the other one
back. When a brand new radio malfunctions the very first time you turn
it on I think this is the least they can do, but anyway well done
Microair, they came to the party after all.

I agree with Kirk's comment about control towers but unfortunately in
our small country we cant go to a lot of places, or easily get fuel,
without going into Mandatory Broadcast Zones.

      Brian

        Hi guys
Anybody had problems with a Microair M760 radio? Mine is just two weeks
old from brand new but the red light keeps coming on indicating that it
is transmitting and after the prescribed 45 seconds the light starts
flashing to indicate a stuck PTT. Nothing will stop it doing this, not
even completely disconnecting the PTT switch. Nothing will work on the
radio when it is doing this but after a few minutes it just comes right
for no apparent reason and then works perfectly, until the next time. It
could be fine all day or it could do it again in ten minutes. The
factory says send it back to Australia but that means no flying for a
      month or more.

      Brian
