Naahh Lynn, the Northstar folks said they would not take the old transducer
back because it had gas in it. They are sending me a new one when they are
caught up with the demand.
Yeah that old transducer was looking at me like a pair of "Geico eyes"
sitting on a pile of money. A good wacking was needed ! At least I now have a
useful electrical cord and when they have "show and tell" I can show how a
sending unit is made (along with my disassembled Rotax oil filter which was
suppose to be so much better)

jerry,
fine stranded wire from a welding supply is a must if you dont already have
it. also, some place along the wire you can attach it to the starter will
help. last, a lot of solder following the strands out of the attach fitting
i think makes the wire more likely to fail from movement.

Subject: | Kitfox flyer lost....to a woman! May be off topic |
I was flying aimlessly this morning, and I decided to fly into
Lakefield (CQA), which is in Ohio, near Celina, OH, and Grand Lake.
The airport manager came out to see what this fine airplane was that
was gracing his tarmac, and we got to talking about Kitfoxes, and he
mentioned that there was one on his field, but he hadn't seen the
owner in a long time. It seems that this Kitfox owner had succumbed
to the passions of a "girlfriend", and wasn't coming around the
airport much any more. If anybody knows this former aviator, please
help bring him back to his senses, and get him back on the well-worn
path of clear thinking. Maybe an intervention is in order.
Maybe this aviator will see this and recognize himself and come out
of his stupor....all so, maybe he will take the girlfriend to the
hangar, and then they'll both be happy-er.
Posted in good fun, Ste, I mean unknown aviator....: )

Subject: | Re: Northstar F210 fuel flow gauge transducer |
Speaking of the fine Northstar flow gauge, I decided to shorten up
the wire from the transducer to the gauge, and started to whack away
at the molded-in wire connector at the connection to the pigtail. Now
mind you, I was doing this in the afternoon, and my brain goes on
vacation in the afternoon on most days. So I'm whittling away at this
rubber, trying to be very careful not to cut into the wires where
they connect to the socket (for want of a better word), and finally I
get down to the connection points, and realize that there are only 3
wires in the 5-wire connector, and then the light bulb turned
on.....why the hell didn't I just chop the wire in half, take out
what I didn't want, and then do a butt splice of the 2 wires and the
shield....DUH! That's what I finally did, but I ruined the nice
connector that Northstar had made in the meantime. I'm not the
brightest bulb when it comes to 'lectrics, but I'm even dimmer in the
afternoon.
(A little shrink tubing and hiding the buggered connector under other
stuff made the ugly sight go away.)

I did the exact same thing, Lynn. Then I got this wild idea: "Why do I need the
plug, anyway"? So I cut the wire on both sides of the plug and hard wired
it together, then to a panel fuse and "Walla" it works!!!

About ten yeas ago somone on the list mentioned using small floating balls
in their fuel gauge as a way to easly read the fuel level.- I thought the
y said they used the balls out of an antifreese tester but I tried this and
none of them would float.

Anyone rmember this?

No, I didn't heat the corners, and looking back, that is something I should
have done.- My kit was also purchased in 92' but not completed until 09'
.- 17 years is a long time for lexan, hoses, bungee cords, and other plas
tic items to be sitting idle.- I'm not saying that these items aren't per
fectly usable, but just keep that in the back of your head as you're buildi
ng.
